Dr. Shawn Robert Ramsey

I consider that the provider rating consists of two elements: the provider and the staff. My rating on Dr. Ramsey is five stars, however the staff unfortunately knocks down my rating. First, Dr. Ramsey: Dr. Ramsey is WONDERFUL and I heartily recommend him for an OB/GYN. He's caring, upbeat, listens carefully, and makes you feel that the only reason he came to work was to see you. He performed my hysterectomy using a procedure that was very new at the time (he was one of the OB/GYNs in the area who was trained in it). He talked me through the entire procedure during my appointment with him and again before the procedure. I have tremendous respect and admiration for him. Now, the staff: The wait time is atrocious. A med that I'm on requires that I come every other week for a 10-minute exam (blood pressure and weight) done by a nurse. I always get the first appointment of the day which is at 8:30 and I get there five minutes or so early to check in. Then comes the wait. And the… wait. And the wait. Almost always it's at least 30 minutes (I time it on my cellphone). I end up back at the receptionist's desk and nicely reminder that my appointment was at 8:30, what the current time is, and ask how much longer will it take. I'm seen shortly thereafter. I don't know where the disconnect is. How long would I continue to wait if I didn't go back to the receptionist and nicely nudge? I'm unemployed (and desperately job-searching) so I can tolerate the wait. I bring a book with me to pass the time. I can't imagine how I will manage to work an 8-hour day and have to take off extra time waiting to be seen. Summary: As I said earlier, Dr. Ramsey is WONDERFUL and I can't imagine going anywhere else. I really recommend him...if you can tolerate the long office wait for exams that the nurses perform.

Dr. Ramsey was my OB for both of my pregnancies and was always helpful and kind. I continue to use him for all my gynecological needs. I always feel comfortable discussing my concerns with him, and he gives me good information about my options. He is a skilled surgeon so surgery is often his choice of options, but he does not discourage me to make my own informed decisions. He performed a flawless c-section for my twins' delivery. I had no complications and very minimal scarring. He was supportive of my decision to have a VBAC for my second pregnancy. I am curious to see how the services continue now that he is in his own office. The staff and facility at the old place were great, but it was getting crowded and the parking was terrible!

Dr. Ramsey is a wonderful doctor. When I was told I had cancer Dr. Ramsey helped me be alot less worried because of his confidence that he could do everything that was needed to remove it. Thankfully he did just that?? Thank you so very much Dr. Ramsey

I had hysterectomy the day before Thanksgiving. Everything went perfectly. I went in at 8 am and was home by 3pm same day. I've had to take ibuprophen for a little soreness. Great Doc. Great staff.

Im a young woman in my early 20s and decided to choose Dr. Ramsey as my gynecologist because of the reviews i read about him online. Ive never seen a gynecologist before him. My first interaction with him was beyond awkward. I felt like he didn't care to put me at ease, was very intimidating, and relished in making me feel uncomfortable. He barely spoke to me at all and when he did i felt like i had to choose my words very carefully. While doing the procedure (just a regular pap smear) he didn't talk to me at all or tell me what he was doing. Overall i left feeling more confused and having more questions about my reproductive health than i came in with. I thought girls were supposed to have good relations with their health care providers, especially their gynecologist, but this interaction was just very off putting and making me question whether i should switch providers. As of today i've seen him three times now and each encounter is as awkward as the last.

Dr Ramsey is polite and professional, but lacks the ability to give you the big picture and describe your options, I'd say it's a communication problem, or rather he doesn't really care? When I had difficulty getting pregnant, and was totally ignorant about fertility treatment options, Dr Ramsey didn't bother to offer me the most obvious and affordable solution, the ovulation induction drugs, which should have been an easy first step. Instead, he sold me the most expensive trick out of his sleeve, a laparoscopy surgery to clear out endometriosis, which may or may not have been the problem. After surgery, he still didn't bother to mention the possibility of using ovulation induction, even though I was later told by another Dr that soon after such surgery is the best time to try it, and the more time goes by, the more the effects of the surgery may wear off. Frustrating. Surgery did nothing for me, by the way, and the problem was solved later when we lost patience and consulted a… fertility Dr who offered ovulation induction right away after some testing and hearing that endometriosis had been cleared out. When I had postpartum vaginal pain and dryness, Dr Ramsey ordered tests to check for infections, and when none were found he gave up and didn't bother to think about it for one minute or offer other solutions. Quick internet research gave me an idea that it might be hormonal related due to breastfeeding, so I contacted their office asking for a topical hormonal cream recommendation. They just handed me a sample, no comments, no nothing, no advice about what to do next if that doesn't help, didn't care at all. Overall, seems like Dr Ramsey never treated me, his patient, in any thoughtful or compassionate way, just handling me mechanically, and putting financial gain and defensive medicine way before my health and best interest. Not the worst Dr I've ever had, but just doesn't seem to care at all.

HIS STAFF WILL NEVER ALLOW YOU TO LEAVE A MESSAGE WITH HIS NURSE. I WAS SCHEDULED TO HAVE SURGERY BUT HIS BILLING SPECIALIST LAUREN REFUSED TO EXCEPT OUR INSURANCE EVEN THOUGH DR RAMSEYS OFFICE TAKES IT.. LAUREN WANTS US TO PAY OUT OF POCKET $1500.. WHEN I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT DR RAMSEY ABOUT WHAT SHE IS DOING.. THE STAFF WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO SPEAK TO HIS NURSE, AND KEEP PUTTING LAUREN ON THE PHONE.. THEY WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO EVEN SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE HIM.. I DO NOT RECIMMEND THIS OFFICE

Dr. Ramsey did my full hysterectomy. He has a warm personality and made me feel at home. I would highly recommend him. His staff is really friendly.

My adult child has a difficult case but Dr. Ramsey is always patient with her. His bedside manner is phenomenal. I couldn't ask for a better physician to take care of her!! Renee is awesome as well!! If you need an gynecologist I recommend you go to Dr. Ramsey!!
