Dr. Shehnaz Aysha Zaman Sarmast, MD

I was referred to Dr. Sarmast after months of misdiagnoses and ineffective, even harmful, treatment by doctors from primary care to wound care and infectious disease specialists. She correctly named my autoimmune disease immediately and has kept it under control for a year now. I’ve found her intelligent, capable, and compassionate.

Dr. Sarmast spent less than five minutes with my daughter. Dr. Sarmast never even took a seat in the room with us; she walked in, looked at my daughter's face, made diagnosis and prescribed medication and left. Unfortunately, her diagnosis was wrong and the medicine she prescribed to my daughter actually exacerbated the problem. After six weeks, we scheduled an appointment with a different dermatologist who sat and visited with us and completed a thorough examination. Two weeks later and my daughter is symptom-free! We would definitely not recommend Dr. Sarmast.

This dermatology practice requires all patients to pay all office visit costs up front at the time of service. They will not bill the patient's insurance company first, therefore resulting in each of my five office visits requiring me to pay in excess of the contractual insurance company (Aetna) costs. The claims billing staff member (Randi) is back-logged and does not reimburse patients in a timely manner (in excess of over a month after date of service). I had to call Randi numerous times to remind her to reimburse me for my overpayments. Requiring the patient to pay up front instead of billing the insurance company first is insensitive and indifferent to the patient. It penalizes those patients who take responsibility and pay their bills on time. It places a focus on the provider receiving their payment and puts the burden on the patient to follow up for reimbursement. This dermatology practice is NOT PATIENT FRIENDLY.

I don't have insurance but was more than willing to pay for whatever services were needed for my diagnosis. I went in there with hundreds of dollars and prepared to pay cash. Dr. Sarmast didn't get within 6? 8? feet of me and told me that I only had an ulcer on my face. She prescribed me a $300 steroid tape that did absolutely nothing. Ten months later the "ulcer" was still there so I went to Dr. Barrows and found I that I had skin cancer. Dr. Sarmast never once asked about my personal history of sun exposure having grown up on Cape Cod at the beach. More than anything I was and am offended that she blew me off because she thought I didn't have money to pay her.

I was able to make an appointment and be seen the day of. My appointment was at 4. I arrived a little early and was seen immediately. I was out of the office by 4:10. Dr. Sarmast was professional and helpful. She was kind and asked meaningful questions. Nothing but great things to say about my experience!

she is not good.even the nurse work there. if you ask them where is the restroom .nurse wiil answer there is no restroom .you go to common restroom down. even the doc if you have rash in the body and other part thy do not give the cloth to undress you.she does not have any intrested to take care of her paitent. or see the paitent propperly. donot recommed
