Dr. Sheila Anne Connery, MD

Dr. Connery is the rudest doctor I’ve ever encountered. Went in for my 36 weeks appointment for my third child back in Nov 2023. Cut my hand while putting my keys away in my purse and the receptionist kindly gave me a bandaid. Before my hand could stop bleeding, she diagnosed me with high blood pressure and told me to walk across the way to go to deliver my baby. She said, “Better to have a NICU baby than a dead one. Good luck!” Went to labor and delivery, stayed the night for observation, and was told to come back on Monday for a c section. When I returned, she was the doctor on duty. She came into my room and said, I told you to come here last week and you were wah wah wah crying about it.” She mocked me to my face. I explained that I did listen to her and they told me to come back on Monday. To my horror, she ended up doing my c section even though I was scheduled with a different surgeon. She never spoke to me or checked on me after the surgery. Never said anything to me again… after she mocked me. Stay away from Dr. Sheila Connery.

I have been seeing Dr. Connery for 5 years. I have always liked her, but navigating the USF Health system is terrible. They have a patient portal for requesting prescriptions that they never respond to so you always have to call. I finally decided to get a new GYN and unfortunately my BC prescription was going to run out before my appt. Dr Connery's office is refusing to fill it for 1 more month even though she saw me 18 months ago and I have a history of regular appointments with her. I had to make a telehealth appt with Planned Parenthood in order to bridge the prescription gap. So many other women would not have the means or time to do so. It's shameful that this is how she treats her established patients.

I went in for my vbac induction. I stayed on monitors for the first 1hr, no problems at all. Nurse said baby was looking fine. Dr. Connery came in and wanted to do a RCS because she said there was dips in babies heart rate. When I asked her to show me she put her hand in my face and said she wasn’t going to argue with me. She told me if I didn’t want the csection I can let my baby be stillborn. I left AMA. This was the absolute worst hospital experience ever.

She doesn’t care about her patients. Always in a rush. Gave me the wrong medical advice. Could have endangered my baby. Endangered my health.

Stay away from all of USF health. The drs are incompetent

I've been seeing Dr. Connery (among other USF physicians) for my prenatal care. She is my absolute favorite- she thoroughly and patiently answers questions without judgment or making you feel rushed, and she provides thorough explanations. I hope I am lucky enough to have her be the physician on call when I deliver!

I spoke with this doctor today and she was very dismissive, rude, and hung up in my face when I asked her to let me speak without cutting me off. I was concerned about placental bleeding and she said “you’re good to go” without getting any details or listening to my concerns fully. I’ve always had a wonderful experience at USF but their OBGYN staff is making me second guess their care.
