After being told by multiple doctors that I needed a hysterectomy, I was beginning to lose hope until I found Shira Varon. Her calendar was booked months out, but the wait was absolutely worth it. From the first consultation, Dr. Varon’s warmth, attentiveness, and confidence immediately put me at ease. What sets her apart is not only her skill but her willingness to take on complex cases. She successfully removed my 13 cm fibroid through a myomectomy, and my recovery involved minimal pain. I’m so grateful for Dr. Varon and the team she leads at UCSD. I had fibroids and wanted to get them removed ASAP. I was originally at Scripps for my initial diagnosis but I wanted the best surgeon for my case so I turned to Dr. Varon. During my consultation, she had looked through my MRI and identified fibroids that the radiologist and obgyn had missed at Scripps. I highly trust Dr. Varon’s expertise and thoroughness with her work. Dr. Varon listened to my concerns and gave me the best path forward. Dr. Varon performed my Laparoscopic Hysterectomy six weeks ago. I had a 10 cm. fibroid that she managed to take out without cutting a big incision. She went beyond the call of duty, to place the tumor in a bag while taking it out, to prevent its spreading in case it was cancerous. I only had a mild pain for two days post-op, no bleeding at all. My recovery is very smooth. Dr. Varon is the most skillful Gynecologist Surgeon in San Diego. She is also very kind and compassionate person. THANK YOU Dr. Varon!!!

I finally found a specialist familiar with and unafraid of my untypical body! She was kind and extremely smart and experienced, and she got it all taken care of in a very complicated surgery. I am healing well and appreciated the post surgery appointment as she listened to all my questions.

My experience with Dr. Varon was phenomenal. She provided exceptional services from start to finish. After dealing with painful heavy menstrual cycles for years she provided me with all options and made it easy and comfortable for me. I am extremely grateful for my decision and its outcome.

Dr. Varon and her staff were excellent. I had a large fibroid for many years. Dr. Varon discussed my options, answered all of my questions, and explained the procedure in detail. Post-surgical care was excellent. Dr. Varon removed my fibroid laparoscopically which was not an option given to me in the past. I am extremely pleased with the results.

If I could give 10 stars I would! Dr. Varon is not only a wonderful doctor but also a warm and kind person who truly cares about her patients. Dr. Varon was completely supportive of my decision to preserve fertility, never deflated my hope of potentially getting pregnant at an older age, and once she knew I wanted the myomectomy, she did recommend a hysterectomy (as many docs tend to do with women my age). I could see in her eyes that she genuinely loves her work and after our first consultation, I immediately trusted her. It was strange, I actually just wanted to spend more time talking to her because of how comfortable I felt. She spoke to me with compassion and listened to my concerns. My surgery (open myomectomy) was successful. She removed 20 fibroids, and I had minimal postoperative pain. It has been one month since the surgery, and I feel fantastic! Dr. Varon is not only a gifted surgeon with incomparable skills; she genuinely cares, is passionate about her work, and can be… trusted.

Dr. Varon is exceptional. Not only she is extremely professional, but a kind and compassionate person who really cares about the wellbeing and health of her patients. I have only gratitude in my heart. I highly recommend her.

Stop and look no further than Dr. Shira Varon. I am a woman who has been through the wringer with uterine health problems; mainly fibroids. I had a previous removal surgery 10+yrs ago and when I found out that fibroids had appeared in my present I was devastated. I went to speak to several doctors prior, one of whom told me my fibroids were unable to be removed due to size and location; urging me to have a Hysterectomy. Just when I was at my lowest, ready to throw in the towel, I stopped and said “ Get one more opinion.” That’s when I did research and found Dr. Shira Varon. I could not be anymore grateful and thankful! Not only was she able to… successfully remove all THREE fibroids of various sizes but she was also able to fix concerns I had from my past surgery. She did what other doctors said they couldn’t do. She took me and my health seriously. While I know that everyone’s health, situations, and circumstances are different. I have no words to express my gratitude towards Dr. Varon and her entire Team. Her professionalism, calmness and confidence, gave me peace, she walked me through what to expect at each step of the way and most importantly, I felt heard and understood from day one. I had had a traumatic post surgical experience in the past and having to go through a more invasive procedure was scary, but the care and service provided was constant, and above all humane. Both her and her Team were amazing, I am grateful to finally have my life back.
