Dr. Shirley Lynne Van, MD

Every appointment I have had to wait for 20-30 minutes even though there are no patients there. I have had to listen to the Dr talk down to her staff, and have been spoken to in a rude manner. My time is as valuable as hers!!

Dr Van uses an amazing scope and spotted a mole on my face that was a stage 0 melanoma. She also credited her friend at UCSF for the Pathology reading. I am grateful to these dedicated Doctors!

I only went to Dr. Vans office twice. Once for five minutes, in which Dr. Van used her phone camera on spot on my leg. Then I was told to come back for biopsy. Dr. Van commented and spent more time discussing how wonderful my insurance was then she did the reason I scheduled. Second visit, still no biopsy, instead "milk" the insurance again. Yes, "Terrible", I too listened to Dr. Van commenting about the patient before me. Loudly joking about him after the Family left her office? It was clear to me that the receptionist and I were getting uncomfortable.

All I have to say is that the staff is rude especially the receptionist. She hung up on me out of nowhere and when I called back, she wouldn't answer my questions. She didn't know much about the medical plans that are offered or if they took my insurance. I asked how are you and she replied with "um what did you need?" Instead of just acknowledging that someone can be nice. She rudely hung up again. Dr. Van would be better off without them! Nobody needs a pathetic receptionist who takes her issues out on other people. I'm all about kindness and expect it in return. I would never treat someone so rudely. Get over your attitude or go find another job where you don't have to deal with people. RUDE STAFF WARNING!!!!

I feel very lucky to have seen Dr.Van for my mole check. Skin cancers run in my family so I was pretty scared when I saw her. She put me at ease and gave me a very thorough exam. The scope she used on my skin was absolutely amazing. I feel so much better now. Big Thanks to you, Dr.Van!

I was very lucky to have found Dr Van 6yrs ago, thats how long I have been her patient. I moved to San Mateo and now I travel 2 hrs to see her because I know nobody can compare to her expertice!. Her office is very professional and her staff is always ready to help. My husband and I make yearly appointments to get our skin checked since he has a family history of melanoma, I wouldnâ??t trust anyone else with our concerns. Dr Van is at the top of her field! Modesto is very lucky to have a UCSF graduate like her.

This doctor has an office policy that requires the physical medical card despite having all the information from the card. Lousy attitude. Where's the Hippocratic Oath? We are not seeing this doctor ever again.

Highly recommend Dr Van she has seen both myself and my husband. She is friendly and very knowledgeable. I have to disagree with the negative review. Dr Van made me feel very relaxed and comfortable and, not at all self-conscious which I was prior to seeing her. We were not screened for our insurance and we do not have fabulous insurance. Not sure why the review said that.
