Dr. Simona Mariana Scumpia, MD

I saw her last week for the first time and I have to say Dr. Scumpia and staff are tremendous! It's like the office runs itself, but you know that it takes a lot of effort to run seamless and smoothly . She is a scientist; she hires top notch professionals! Watching her review my medical history reassured me that not only is she thorough in her investigation of your whole endocrine system I knew she wasn't going to ignore or dismiss my feelings or symptoms. Okay let me wrap this up with saying I am an extrovert, So I worked really hard to not interrupt. Because I believe she is brilliant, and will order all the necessary test to get to the bottom of your health concerns and issues. At the end of your appointment she will ask you what questions you have. So be prepared & have your questions written down!

I have been a patient of Dr. Scumpia's office for the past year and a half. During all this time, I have met with her no more than two times, the second upon insistence. I was finally told that her policy is to refer patients to a medical assistant. Her concern appears to be one of money over patients. It is extremely difficult to get anyone to answer a telephone, sometimes several weeks on end. Her office staff staff display a laissez faire, st times lazy attitude when it comes to her patients. Her "pharmacy" charges outrageous prices for simple over the counter supplements which she encouraged me to buy. In addition, neither she or staff have a separate laboratory on site run by Quest. Information about this arrangement is not given by the doctor or her staff. In my recent experience, I received a bill from Quest that should have been covered by my insurance. Following non-response from the company, I tried to contact Dr. Scumpia's office. After a full week of attempts, I received a… phone call from Jasmine in her office. She was both curt and rude from the onset. She informed me in those tones that the laboratory was a separate entity and she could not help me. So much for Dr. Scumpia's business model.

This Dr. is a hack. This office is simply an insurance farm. She does almost zero face to face time with you. Her answer for almost everything is a loading does of Vitamin D 50,000mcg. She will lie about your labs and when you call her on it she will lie further by making false accusations against you. She keeps you coming back for more and more expensive labs and tests that are unnecessary. Stay far far away from this bitter cold Dr.

I was charged $270 upon arrival, and waited a long time... Wow, the bedside manners... "DO YOU KNOW YOU'RE GONNA DIE!?" Yes, I can hear just fine, thank you! She just interrogated me and was very cold and busy with writing stuff down, not even looking at me unless to examine me. No "Hello, how are you?" No time for that. Also, she talked nasty to a staff, sounded very critical. The staff actually apologized to me that I had to hear that. One lady was doing ultrasound for my neck and kept telling me to face away from monitor. I was watching what she was doing and just being observant. Well, I won't be going back there anytime soon... Wow.

Dr. Scumpia did not have a friendly attitude when seeing me. She ordered a test that was unnecessary for what I was coming in for. She seemed unprofessional and her office promoted a lot of unhealthy weight loss tactics that focused on diet culture. Not sensitive to eating disorder patients. Her staff were unprofessional, short, and overall lacking knowledge or compassion. She suspected a condition that had no relation to what I was experiencing and ordered some expensive tests to search for things that were not there. I felt very uncomfortable and I will not be returning.

Dr Scumpia is the best in her field. Her bedside manner is not the best, but I understand the culture. My disappointment is in the staff. The veteran staff are very short and abrupt; especially the insurance specialist/office manager. He is horrible. The new staff are pretty good, and much better than the staff they had at the front desk.

This office is like a well oiled money making machine. You start by not even passing the receptionist without putting money on the counter. What they don't tell you is they are running several tests that cost a small fortune that you had no idea were going to be done, and they want you to pay for it all before you can even enter past the waiting room. Then they move you room to room for another 40 minutes doing scans and tests that you don't know you can opt out of (and are costing you $$$ above the apt cost). Then you see the doctor, who seems knowledgeable enough, but her demeanor is horrible. She is cold and rude. I appreciate bluntness from doctors and don't need things sugar coated, but dang....this lady will make you cry. As you leave, she always wants some kind of bloodwork. Even it you've just had the same bloodwork done within a week from another specialist. Then she asked me what kind of insurance plan I had, and then directed me to one of the three labs that draw blood in… her office and told me "don't worry, they will send you a bill for over $2k, but don't pay it, just tell them you can only afford $50 and they'll take it..." UM...this is clearly insurance fraud guys---stay away. The unnecessary tests, this weird thing so asking you your insurance before telling you what lab to use, then telling you not to pay the bill etc....so suspicious. Then they want you to buy supplements from them when they are half that price for the same brand and quantity on amazon. Do I need to tell you more? run away. find a new doctor.

***AVOID THIS DOCTOR*** Poor patient communication. Requested unnecessary tests. Does not keep up with current technology. She was not familiar with treatment I was getting from my oncologists and told me that both of my oncologist were wrong. When I looked up her reviews it did not suprise me that her reviews were not good!

I have been a patient of Dr. Scumpia as have my wife and daughter for many years. We are stumped by the low ratings. Her office is always busy but her patient flow is efficient and quick. She has a wide array of testing equipment and most test results can be provided during your visit. She has always provided my family with first rate care. Our experience with her is excellent.

Dr. Scumpia has been my Endocrinologist for 10+ years and she is thorough and knowledgeable. I have full confidence in her.
