***PLEASE READ UNTIL THE END*** This was a review I wrote over a year ago: "Horrible front desk presence and over the phone customer service!! Dr. Segar is OK, I suppose, but the only reason I'm going to him is because he is the ONLY Rheumatologist within a 2 hr drive of my house. Otherwise, I'd already have found someone else. He is hard to understand and doesn't seem to listen to you when explaining your pains, etc. He seems like he'd rather push you off to a pain clinic, yet tells you you'll have to find one on your own (will not refer you as if he has no clue who to even send you to). I understand that figuring out what is causing pain may be a trial and error process, but he tried very little before just giving up and wanting me to go elsewhere. Has no bedside manner or compassion." I saw my review 6 months ago when googling their address (forgot about it until then) and went in to edit it, but ended up leaving it as it was because no one from that office had ever responded to… it yet. So, fast forward to this week. I received a letter in the mail (see photo) telling me that they are no longer going to treat me as a patient. I called and was told because I posted a negative review that I need to go elsewhere to be treated (mind you, this location is 1 hour away and is the CLOSEST rheumatologist to me), suggesting locations 2 and 3 hours away. I literally begged them to reconsider and even took down the original review. They said they would have the doctor call me the next day. He never did, so I waited an additional day and called back. Gave them my name and was put on hold for 10 minutes. Called back. Was hung up on when they saw it was me on the caller ID. Called back again. Left a voicemail. Never got a call back. Waited a few hours and tried again. This time, I got through. I asked to speak to Dr. Segar. They had me wait while they went to get him and came back and told me that he refused to talk to me and that I had "burned bridges" with him. I said my review was one of many negative reviews and was told, "we cut them loose as well." I asked about his Hippocratic Oath and why he was refusing to care for his patients, I was told, "This is a private practice. We can refuse whoever we want for any reason." Part of the Hippocratic Oath is non-maleficence ("primum non nocere,") it is a core ethical principle that emphasizes the obligation to avoid doing harm to others. Not only is this direction they're taking doing harm to me, but it is being done intentionally and maliciously. This will have a severe negative effect on my health and well-being and will be devastating to my already depleted finances. So, it's clear to me that this guy's ego is more important than his patients. I would give him a zero rating if it were possible. I 1000% would NEVER recommend!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Use him at your own peril. You have been warned.

Well informed and is patient with me. Helped my RA a lot.

I waited months to get in and on the day of my appointment was told I was taken off the schedule because they were having a hard time with my insurance after driving 60 miles each way to get there. No phone call to me was made that they stopped taking my insurance or that I was taken off the schedule. I called my insurance and they said his office does take my insurance. Very frustrating!

Dr Segar kept working with me until he found the right combination of drugs to treat my RA and Fibromyalgia.
