Dr. Sooren Karayan, MD

I visited his office once. Everything went well. He told me I have two options what to do with my swollen knee. No pressure no stress. I am planning to go back and let him know what my decision is.

I am very happy that I found this Dr. Dr . Karayan was very nice and very knowledgeable dr. He explained everything . His office girl Carmen also was very nice .

While visiting his office post hip replacement his staff was rude and unprofessional. The doctor never physically examined me or asked me to get out of my wheelchair to see if I could walk, despite being released from rehab/snf after 2 weeks.. He did not want to explain the rational for my hip replacement to my family member after being told by all by primary care doctors that nothing could be done because of my heart condition and my advanced arthritis. Curt, and rude. Follow up appointment because I fell again and injured my leg in the meantime. Met with the same indifference and resented questions asked by my family member. Finally examined my leg and removed my brace and twisted my leg causing me great pain. Unconcerned if I had damaged my prior hip replacement. Said to come back in a few weeks. Dreading it, will speak to my PCP about finding another ortho specialist for my care. Oh, and all the patients in the waiting room and office are elderly women, no male patient in sight.… Kind of creepy. Office staff tried to send paperwork and xray back with family member instead of medical transport team taking me back to my nursing home. DO NOT GO TO HIM IF YOU CAN HELP IT. Already planning for my next surgery in a few weeks time because he wil make money from it, i do not believe it is in my best interst.

I wish there was an option of no star because he and his staff surely don't deserve even one. My son had a cracked bone in his foot. Dr. Sooren took it very lightly and after a few weeks in removable cast he said all is well and he can continue with his sports. In less than two months we took him to urgent care again with problems with the same foot and it turned out that he had cracked the same bone again. I called his office thinking that he or his staff would be concerned and would like to see him right away. I was so wrong. The earliest they could see him was in 7 days. I could not believe their lack of concern and care about their patients. I hung up and later wanted to talk the office manager and she would not even come to the phone. They had all the information about my call and I thought someone in the office with some humanity might call back and try to give my son an earlier appointment. Nobody called. In a way I am thankful for their indifference. I found the best… pediatrist in Encino. According to her that bone is one of the slowest healing bones in the body and she took care of it. My son is back on his feet and in his sports. Do yourselves a favor and stay away from this guy, his staff and his clinic.

I don't think this guy actually exists! Blue Cross obviously doesn't care about its patients if it continues to send patients to this ghost. I had 3 appointments, 2 of them I showed up for, they collected the co-pay, and after waiting 30 minutes was told, "The doctor is not in today. When can we reschedule?" The office staff is a bunch of armenians who sit around playing Angry Birds on their phones while ignoring the ringing phone. When I did see "Dr. Karayan" it was a 35 year old female who told me to "take it easy and it will repair on it's own." I quit bodybuilding 6 months ago, haven't used my injured limb for 6 months, and it's no better! I actually called the Glendale Police Department about this office, but they ignored my pleas and brushed me off as a quack. I've heard dozens of people say that Glendale leads the nation in insurance fraud, and now, after dealing with this office, I can't disagree.

I'm in a profession where I serve as a patient advocate daily. So, I'm posting this to advocate for those who have yet to see Dr Karayan. I saw Dr Karayan after my injury because he was the only MD my insurance company allowed. He spent all of 5 minutes in the office with me, looked at the x ray, and told me to start riding my bike and go back to work in 2 weeks. The type of injury I received clearly warranted an MRI to assess soft tissue damage as an x-ray would not detect that. So, I was shocked at his cavalier and uncaring demeanor and lack of knowledge. I left his office, never to return. I paid out of pocket for an excellent MD out of USC. Dr Timothy Charlton. He recognized the severity of my injury and ordered appropriate tests, treatment and medications...I also had bad nerve damage which Dr. Karayan never even asked about. All in all...I was bed and couch bound for 7 months due to my injury. My recovery was very difficult...months of physical therapy, pain and lots of… medications to get me through. In summary, his diagnosis skills were so off base that he told me that "I was lucky it was not worse and that I can go back to work in 2 weeks" but in actuality, I was not able to work for 7 months. So, I hope this helps anyone who is doing their research on Dr Karayan to make an informed decision.

Two young Armenian girls chattering at the reception desk, did not heed the urgency of my condition. Staff did not offer assisstance from the entrance to the building to the office when I was immobile and needed a wheelchair.The receptionist did not give me a receipt for my copay. I had to ask for the receipt on the 2nd visit. I was told I could not be given an invoice or bill to mail my copay--they simply handed me a blank envelope and told me to put a check in it (no invoice). They "forgot" to give me my 2 prescriptions the doctor wrote. They "shredded" my MRI report and had to request another one by FAX, which came in incomplete and further delayed my visit with the doctor.

He is an excellent orthopedic surgeon. Spends time explaining in answer to your questions. Good bed side manner. Highly recommend.
