Just say no

When I first seen Dr. Chakravarthi or (Dr. Chuck, as his staff calls him) I was scared to death. A mother of two boys my oldest was three and my youngest was 6 months, I was 25 years old in severe pain caused by 3 herniated disks (from L4-S1 very common) calcification on my spine, arthritis, spinal stenosis, and degenerating disk disease. I told him during the first visit, no surgery and no pain meds. After months of physical therapy that led to no change or any kind of relief, I gave into trying pain medication. Of course it worked, but it's not what I wanted, not to mention the effects wore off after 4 hours or less and I was back in excruciating pain. Due to no other avenues working, or being financially possible, I was, reluctantly, talked into surgery. The first week was amazing, then the pain came back full force times 100. I frequented his office trying to get answers, and for a year straight all he told me to do was wait it takes time to heal. Fast forward 3 years later, I have an official diagnosis of failed back surgery, very little range of motion, I cannot bend, lift, twist, walk, breathe...anything without pain. To this day he says there is nothing more he can do. Someone who was once physically fit, a runner, a dancer, a football player...so many things, now I can barely clean the house, I'm a horrible mother because I can't interact with my two beautiful and very active boys. I went from being 130 to 210 lbs because I am unable to move most days... I am a prisoner in my own body. I was told by another surgeon that there is a bolt in my spine that is pushing on my nerves, disks have herniated above the surgical area. Yet no surgeon, pain management doctor, or Medical doctor can or will help me, as they put it "there is nothing we can do." I regret my surgery everyday. The last time I seen Dr. Chakravarthi he said I was being weak, I needed to get over it, its just pain. I hope no one else in this world experiences this at my age or any other. I am a 28 year old trapped in the body of a 98 year old. Please, seek out other opinions from many doctors before you go through with any kind of back surgery, listen to your gut. I cried from the day I left home to the moment the anesthetist put me under on my surgical date because I didn't want to do it. I pray for the pain I was in pre-op compared till now. I will never recommend this doctor, his office, or anything to do with him. I have no quality of life anymore
