Dr. Stanley Mathew, MD

Dr. Mathews may be a decent standard thyroid care doctor on a good day. He is not however knowledgeable or experienced enough for handling complex endocrine cases involving pituitary/thyroid/adrenal glands all at once. His bio states that he treats his patients like family, if this is the case it is not like any family I'd would want to be related to. He has TERRIBLE communication, zero tolerance, and zero empathy toward patients whom have very multifaceted endocrine health issues. Any questions that you have that perhaps challenge his oversized ego makes him defensive, deflective, and a master in gaslighting. Along my journey (with his treatment/lack of care), I have developed a neurocognitive stutter and serious thought to word processing delays. With this, I get frustrated trying to push words out of my mouth...resulting in my voice getting louder (I am a naturally already loud talker), this was re-told by him in "MyChart notes" as not for what it is but as being "Disruptive" during… our visit together for any and all future doctors to see. His nurse was very quick, thorough, and pleasant on the other hand as well as check-in staff members. They were the 2 stars.

He has a terrible bedside manner. He has never once been nice to me and I've been a patient for a long tie.

Not thorough at all. Seemed like he was on a race to get out the door as soon as he walked in. Offered no answers to any of the questions I had. Very rude.

Dr. Standley Matthews has been my doctor for many years. He is an excellent Doctor. With his medical advise, I have been able to keep my diabetes under control. He also, treats me for a thyroid problem. He is always checking for medicine interactions. He is friendly and always professional.

Meets appointment time within 10-15 minutes. - Does NOT rush through appointment. - Thorough: chart review/current assessments/excellent explanations/etc. - Intrapersonal attributes promotes patient feelings of caring/competence. - Would 5star recommend to other patients. -

A Rep for big pharma. Cares more about how many drugs he can Prescribe, than the needs of patient. Looks at his computer more than he does his patient. Does not listen to concerns the patient may have.

I am very pleased with all aspects of Dr Stanley Matthew. He has taken the time to explain things to me that no other Dr has even offered for my own conditions. He truly cares about his patients well being and takes the time needed to make sure we understand what he is sharing with us. If I were to grade him, I would give him an A+. It can take some time to get an appointment on his days at the Progress West office as he is there just two Tuesday's a month, but if you do need in sooner and don't mind the extra drive to St Peters, you can be seen much sooner. I don't believe that his type of practice requires a follow-up after a visit, at least I have never really needed one nor have received one. The staff that works with him are quick to answer and help on the phones - no 45 minutes on HOLD like I had routinely with my first Endocrinologist! If they need to get back to you, either the Dr or his staff, they do so in a timely manner

Now that he is in an integrated practice group he does not seem to have the time to answer questions. I think they limit his time with each patient.

Dr Mathew pulls no punches. He tells it like he sees it and I like that. He has called me at home to check on me. The office staff is great and remembers little things about us that make our visits there really comfortable.

Dr. Stanley Mathew is by far my favorite doctor. He responds quickly to concern, whether I have put a phone call in or have met with him. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at a pretty severe level. In just six months, he was able to bring me down to an almost perfect TSH level. He has down an ultrasound and found two nodules. In a few months, he is doing a second one to see if they have shrank or if he should take a biopsy. I feel comfortable and well-informed.
