Dr. Stanley G Vriezelaar, MD

He has been my primary care doctor for over 20 years maybe much longer.He is responsible for my reaching the age of 74 in reasonably good health.

I guess I've been seeing DR V for 10 years. I really appreciate having someone I trust with such an important aspect of my life. Pleasure to talk with. Never makes you feel rushed. His PA is great to deal with also. As to the one star ratting RE: not recommending colonoscopy - I find that strange because that is the one thing he insisted on since I was 55 when I first started seeing him and had never had one done. Then again, I found the whole review strange to the point I wonder if we are talking about the same doctor.

Dr. V is compassionate and caring; with a sense of humor which helps everything. Up to date on new medical developments and best of all he is kind.

The Doctor is a Profesional all the way. When you walk in he studies you up and down without you knowing it. Then he ask ques. about everything that would pertain to your issues. Then he tells you what he thinks in detail. I hate Doctors that don't talk to you, this is not the case. He is as nice as can be. If you get out of line he lets you know in a profesional way. I hope this helps you.

My husband was a patient of Dr Vriezelaar's. He gave my husband many medications. Some were harmful to his long term health. Example-Testosterone which has shown to encourage prostate cancer. He did continue yearly tests for PSA levels after his prostate was removed because of cancer. We had to push him to prescribe a first time colonoscopy for my husband at the age of 67 when my husband was not feeling well.I don't think he talked with my husband about how diet effects health. We tried to follow a healthy diet at home.Overall I don't think Dr Vriezelaar was a proactive doctor. I don't feel he kept my husband's health concerns in mind. He listened to my husband's concerns and prescribed drugs. He did not practice healthly preventions. He was unfeeling by talking about his healthy 80 year old father when my husband was dying from cancer at 70.

Dr. Vriezelaar was my doctor for many years. Due to an insurance situation I switched doctors and went into a medical revolving door situation at BJC. Three years later I happily returned to Dr. V. He has great empathy for his patients,a sense of humor and the ability to actually hear what you have to say.He is thorough, perceptive and patient. The office staff is rather dour and unsmiling,the art work is faded and terrible but Dr. V. is the VERY BEST! Marva,nurse practitioner in this office is marvelous too.

Dr. Vriezalaar reminds me of the old fashioned doctor which is interesting because he looks so young. He is extremely kind and answers all of my questions no matter how minor.
