Dr. Travaglini is a very nice person, very warm bedside manner most of the time, but I've been left incredibly dissatisfied with his care. I've been his patient for the past 5 or more years for Hashimoto's/hypothyroidism. From my very first visit I discovered that wait time is a major issue-I usually wait about 45 minutes in the waiting room and 45 minutes in the exam room before he rushes through a 5 minute talk with me, writes me a new prescription for my Synthroid, and tells me he doesn't expect a follow up until months later (even if my levels were off upon the most recent lab work). I never can get out of that office in under 2 hours, and once waited 2 and a half hours before even being seen. If I'm due for a visit, I have to keep my schedule completely open for that day.If I have questions, I know I have to save them for his awesome nurse Virginia, because he does get impatient (and honestly, a bit condescending) if I ask them of him and never fully explains. In fact, upon first being diagnosed with Hashimoto's, I was given a packet of FAQs and pharmaceutical company-style handouts on my way out the door, left to panic about a few things at home.At my most frequent visit, my lab work showed my levels were where they should be, but I still was feeling all the rotten thyroid symptoms (common among hypothyroid patients) and was told very dismissively that it didn't really make sense, maybe I could get a metabolic panel run by a family doctor. Why am I even seeing an endocrinologist if all I need is someone to hand me lab orders and a prescription?! My family doctor can already do those things...and that's how I was referred to the *specialist* in the first place! It takes about 30-45 minutes for me to get to the University Blvd office, and after discovering that there is now an office for their practice 5 minutes down the street from my home, I was told by the office staff that I would not be able to switch to a Dr. in the practice who goes out to the other location and Dr. Travaglini would not be increasing hours at that location.Based on my experiences, I would never recommend anyone to the massive NE Florida practice, and not to Dr. Travaglini. I'm sure others have had better experiences, but for someone who has a condition that does require attentive monitoring, this is just not the place for you! I hate having to tell Virginia that I'll be leaving their care, but I am desperate to find an MD who cares to treat me and my condition to the point that it is manageable, not just go through the typical motions whether they're successful or not.
