Dr. Stephen Zale Fadem, MD

Dr. Fadem is a practicing Houston nephrologist. He began practice in 1978 after completing a renal fellowship at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, and did his internal medicine residency at The University of Texas and MD Anderson Hospital in Houston. He is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of medicine. Among other awards and honors, Dr. Fadem is the recipient of the Peter Lundin Award for his contributions to patient education, the AAKP Visionary Award for his accomplishments in developing CKD education initiatives, and the NKF Distinguished Service Award. He is a 2014 recipient of the NKF Crystal Slipper Award. He is among 109 nephrologists in the nation named as one of America's Top Doctors by Castle Connolly, and has been listed among Houston's Top Doctors (H Texas Magazine). He is listed as a Doctor's Choice, one of the top 362 physicians in Houston as voted upon by …peers, and is also listed among the top 1% of the nation's top doctors by U.S. News and World Report. Dr. Fadem has served on the Board of the Renal Physician's Association, and is chairman of the Medical Advisory Board, AAKP as well as the Medical Advisory Board of the National Kidney Foundation Serving Texas. Dr. Fadem is also active in clinical research. He is from Tulsa, Oklahoma. The annual National Kidney Foundation Serving Texas Symposium was named in his honor from 1999 through 2011.
