Dr. Stephen Edward Litsey, MD

I don’t know why he is in medical profession without the basic human character of empathy. One of the most cold, umempathetic and terrible doctor I have ever come across. I had to see him for an emergency appointment as my doctor was unavailable and I came out from the appointment furious. I went to check on the safety of my pregnancy after a heart problem for which I had to go to ER. He was so rude with the questions I asked and also never gave any medical advise for the problems I was going through. I would advice everyone not to see this doctor, he is of no help.

My sister saw Dr. Litsey early in her pregnancy. She had been in an abusive relationship which resulted in a pregnancy. She had ended things with the baby's father, who was by then in prison for various criminal misdeeds. She went to her appointment with Dr. Litsey hopeful and in a good place, but having just run out of Lexapro, which she has taken for years. She needed a nausea medication as well, for excessive vomiting. Dr. Litsey was cold and unkind to her. She started crying during the appointment, and he never batted an eye, nor offered her a tissue or any other words of comfort. He refused to date her pregnancy via a vaginal exam or an ultrasound, telling her she didn't need to know unless there was some medical reason for her needing to know. He told her all women want to know, but that's not his job in an early pregnancy. (Absurd!) He told her she could come back in about three weeks and get an ultrasound and find out how far along she was then. He refused to refill her Lexapro… prescription at first, despite it being pretty common knowledge among even laypeople that one cannot cold turkey quit Lexapro due to the vicious (and dangerous) withdrawal symptoms that occur. She told him she was struggling to cope, but felt the Lexapro was helping, and he said, "Let's see how you do off it." When she started crying and said she felt she really needed it or SOME antidepressant, he told her no antidepressants are safe in pregnancy (untrue) and that he only likes to give antidepressants to women during brief bouts of postpartum depression, and always with the stipulation they get off them ASAP. She basically had to demand he give her *something* -- any antidepressant (she knows her own mental health history and knows her own needs, which should be a good thing!). He was very derogatory and rude to her, and acted judgmental. He told her everyone taking an antidepressant should be under the care of a psychiatrist (not the case). I see on his profile he's active in his church, and I cannot help thinking this man was unkind to my sister because she is pregnant out of wedlock. His uncaring demeanor and refusal to attempt to date her pregnancy were out of the ordinary at his practice, where most of the other providers are great. Very disappointing. This is a doctor that should be avoided.

Was so hateful I left crying so hard I couldn't catch my breath. He raised his voice and blocked the doorway so I couldn't leave the room. I will NEVER see this doctor or recommend him to anyone else!!!!

Incompetent doctor! Was examined by him for 8 consecutive years. He missed an obvious condition that caused me a lot of other medical problems. I would not recommend him at all. Do yourself a favor and find another doctor.

Dr. Litsey is the worst doctor I've ever had. He was so rude I left without him examining me. I wouldn't recommend him to ANYONE. He's very judgmental and lacks people skills. If you go to him GOOD LUCK.

Very nice doctor!

They have several waiting rooms, and the nurses (before you go to the doctors room) don't know what you're there for or can really answer your questions. Completely opposite of the doctor's nurse, who was very helpful and answered all my questions. He was very nice and professional and willing to help me in any way he could

Let me start out by saying that I am a college student and suffer from endometriosis (confirmed through surgery). I went to Lee Ob Gyn and visited Dr. Stephen Litsey, because I am from out of town and did not have time to visit my home town to see my normal doctor. He was rude and arrogant. The doctor from my hometown has always been patient with me, explores options of treatments with me, and is respectful of the pain I am in every day - Dr. Litsey was not.

Dr. Litsey is always prompt and professional. His staff are helpful and friendly. I believe he is the best doctor in our area.
