Dr. Stephen J Mitrosky, DO

Dr Mitrosky is probably the only dr around western pa for kids-adults that I actually like, I switched to him after being at children’s hospital for 12 years, every time I went to children’s, I seen a different doctor and didn’t give me a pump till my blood glucose was regulated. Dr Mitrosky immediately put me on a pump and my blood glucose got a lot better. I would recommend him to just about anyone.

Dr. Mitrosky seems to know what he's doing- most of the time. The thing is, he knows how bright he is, too, and has the overly inflated ego that some people tend to gain when they allow it to go to their head. He's very rude, judgmental, and unprofessional. Your mileage may vary with him, so it couldn't really hurt to give him a try-- I know people who actually like him. Personally, I needed a doctor who could both offer treatment AND be my own personal cheerleader when I met important goals in order to keep going. So, if you need a doctor with both decent diagnostic skills AND a positive personality, you might want to consider going elsewhere.

I rate my experiences with Dr. Mitrosky as a 98%. I feel Dr. Mitrosky is a very caring doctor and is concerned about the well-being of his patients. I would have given him a 100% but since he is human he does have his good and bad days but for the most part they are good days. I have been seeing Dr. Mitrosky since around 2007. During one of my doctor visits in 2008, I asked him to look at a spot on my foot that seemed to have gotten bigger. He was concerned about the spot and felt a sample should be sent away for tests due to being concerned it may be a type of skin cancer. He was right...I had melanoma skin cancer. Since melanoma is the most fatal out of all skin cancer I was lucky he caught it early. Since then I have had numerous health issues and concerns. If he did not have an answer - he immediately set up a referral appointment with another associate more knowledgeable in the illness. My husband also has Dr. Mitrosky for his physician and has been pleased with the… service and care he has received at the doctors hands. My husband had pains in his lower right leg. After many questions and such, Dr. Mitrosky sent him to get some tests done. My husband ended up having a blood clot in his leg. I feel Dr. Mitrosky not only saved my life but the life of my husband as well. I would not hesitate to refer Dr. Mitrosky to anyone looking for a physician. I'm sorry the other responder had a bad experience. I have found in my life time that it is easier for someone to report a bad experience then a good experience and this is one of the reasons I felt I needed to tell how my experience has been as a patient of Dr. Mitroksy.

From the first moment I met Dr. Mitrosky I was not impressed.He is abrupt,phoney,and all in all unprofessional.I was in terrible pain and all he seemed to be interested was my weight.When I left I was in tears and the following day ended up in ER and was diagnosed with four fractured ribs.With further tests I had to have my gallbladder removed.The last time I saw him for a "follow-up" all he said was...sorry.I stopped at the front desk on my way out and asked for my records and never went back.
