Dr. Stephen P Povoski, MD

Visit lasted all of maybe 3 minutes, cute me off as I was answering his questions about my issue. Spoke with his eyes closed most of the time ( looked very tired). I felt as though I was wasting his time. I read other reviews, most were very positive, and I hoped my would also be, but I think I will go somewhere else where the Doctor is actually willing to listen or even care about your concerns when you were told you have irregular shaped margins on MRI and US and a history of BC from Mother and grandmother,.and was told to follow up with a surgeon. Geese.

Dr. Povoski is an excellent Doctor! He performed two Mastectomies on me and both were very successful ! I didn’t have any problems from either one. He is very thorough in his work before, during and after! He is passionate, caring and nice! Dr. Povoski has a good heart and I was lucky to have him as my surgeon! He is the best Doctor ever and I recommend him to anyone!

Dr. Povoski has performed two mastectomies on me. He is strict about others following his directions which is part of what I like about him. He’s very well thought of by the many nurses I’ve asked at OSU. Most have said that he’s the only surgeon they would want to operate on them.

I had an excellent experience with all the docs, they said do and I did no questions!!! Within a year I was cancer free done with surgeries and treatments. I have zero bad words!!!

I am a breast cancer patient who recently had a lumpectomy and sential node dissection performed by Dr. Stephen Povoski. Dr. Povoski is 100% concerned and involved with every aspect of his patient's care and well being. He is meticulous when it comes to his patient's care. His approach is direct and thorough. At first, I didn't know how to take him. But after I realized how extremely intelligent he was and how much he had to offer, I was so glad I picked him as my surgeon. If I asked a question, he explained it very well. He has the reputation of being the best surgeon who is very particular with every aspect of his patient's care. I witnessed it to be so very true.

Our experience with Dr. Povosky has been beyond reproach. He is a consummate professional as a surgeon, both in terms of his competency and empathy for the patient. Dr. Povosky recently performed a single mastectomy on my wife at The James. My wife was initially diagnosed by another provider during a routine annual medical exam. The oncologist there recommended a lumpectamy. But, my wife thought it prudent to request a second opinion and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Povosky based on the recommendation of a couple of acquaintances who had the same surgery with him. After additional imaging at the Spielman Center, we learned that the cancer was more extensive that thought by the other provider. We had 3 appointments with Dr. Povosky leading up to the surgery. We probably spent a total of 90 minutes with him and he always explained his diagnosis and recommended surgical treatment in a way that we could understand and responded to all of our questions and concerns very… cordially. With all of the emotional trauma of receiving this kind of diagnosis, we could not have asked for a better medical experience. Dr. Povosky and the Stefanie Spielman Center are absolutely fantastic.

I found him to be direct and to the point. On one occasion I found him to be a little gruff with me..But was it really him or just the fact that I was overly sensitive and worried..I expressed my concern to his Nurse..When he came in he said, Im sorry if you were upset..But I only want what is best for you..As for my surgery I believe that he was great...I will continue with him and would highly recommend him to anyone..His staff is fabulous.

He was my mother's surgeon. Love him! He even helped the nurse with IV before surgery.

Dr Stephen Povoski , at the Stephanie Spillman Center, at Ohio State University due to his Perserverance and Insistance the radiologist do the biopsy in site #2 which the radiologist didn't feel was necessary. The cancer was in site #2. If it wasn't for Dr Povoski I would have died. I love this man for saving my life,. Life might be not so good right now due to side effects of chemo, I am still alive due to God giving this man the talent.

Bedside manner is terrible for a patient being tested for cancer. He made me feel like a bother more than a patient who had questions. He did not show me any respect as a woman or a patient.
