Dr. Stephen Eugene Schell, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Schell's for nine years. He has continually provided professional and most competent services for me. I highly recommend him. The support staff and wonderful too !

While the surgery I went under went fine, I had complications after surgery that nobody seemed too concerned about. Had the incision site split back open and they just said to put antibiotic ointment on it. So now I have a gaping hole that I'm sure will heal to a nasty scar. They gave me a slip to release me back to work. At the time I told them I would have another piece of paperwork to have signed for FMLA so I don't get into trouble at work. It was a major procedure where I ended up with a 'massive' (doctors words) incision across the back of my head that almost went from one ear to the other, a drain tube etc..... So when I went back in to have the paper signed (I additionally called to double check them filling it out) they refused to sign it without me paying for a signature. Are you serious? Almost $20,000 for surgery and now they want more money for a signature when they already signed a release and gave it to me to go back to work. UNREAL! If I would have known that this is… how they treat their patients I would have gone ANYWHERE else but here. Will never return again and will post anywhere and everywhere I possibly can to let as many people know about this as I can. I was already out of work for 3 weeks due to surgery and now let's try to nickel and dime hard working people for some ink scribbled on a piece of paper. Shameful!!!

He is a very knowable doctor. After a serious car accident as a child he reconstructed part of my face and performed three surgeries. I would highly recommend this doctor!!

My 15 year old was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. He was the most thorough and caring professional with her. He did a 7 1/2 hour surgery to remove her thyroid, tumor and affected lymph nodes. He is the only doctor she trusts and I am so grateful for all that he has done. He comes off as rough around the edges but truly knows his stuff and deeply cares for his patients.

Bedside manner is lacking a little. But just preformed my surgery and did an excellent job. I would highly recommend.

I arrived at my appointment to consult with Dr. Schell about some problems I was having with my tongue. I filled out paperwork and gave all my health insurance information before entering the examination room. When Dr. Schell entered the room, he did not acknowledge me at all. He was talking to someone on a Bluetooth device. He stuck something in my nose for no more than 20 seconds and told me to "eat yogurt". That was it. His solution did not work. I pay $35 for my copay. I receive an "Explanation of Benefits" from BCBS. The camera was a "surgery" and costs $284.00. I called the ENT office and asked them why the Doctor wouldn't tell me that the procedure he was going to perform was going to cost me $150 out of pocket. The angry lady on the phone stated, "How are we supposed to know what kind of insurance you have?". I responded, by the insurance information I gave you before my examination. Obviously, I canceled my follow up.

Does not listen to patient concerns. Performed an unnecessary surgery on me & never fixed the true problem I had with my ear. At follow up visits I had to remind him of what was wrong with my ear. I wish I had read more reviews on him before I went through with surgery. He does all the talking at appt & doesn't pay any attention to what your complaint is & then recommends a procedure(surgery) because that's where he makes all his money, not on simple appts but on procedures. Terrible doctor - highly unrecommended!!
