Dr. Stephen Thomas Vargo, MD

I ended up in the ER at Centennial Hospital with my gallbladder completely malfunctioning. I am so glad we went there because I was fortunate enough to get Dr. Stephen Vargo as my surgeon. He explained exactly what he was going to do, even cautioning me that he would try and do it laparoscopically, but if it was warranted, he may need to do a larger incision. I told him to do whatever he needed to do, I trusted him fully and knew I was in good hands. I had been in such pain and had terrible nausea even without eating fat. I had terrible burning pain in between my shoulder blades. My bilirubin was through the roof and my eyes were starting to turn yellow. After I woke up in recovery, I felt such relief! It was as if someone flipped a switch. No more low grade, constant nausea, it was gone, with all the rest of my problems. When he visited me post -op he said everything went well and he was able to do it laparoscopically. He was calm, kind and brilliant. I have not felt this good in… years! I want to let everyone know about this amazing surgeon! Thank you Dr. Vargo!

Great doc took care of me very well when I asked how long my herina surgery would be he told me as long as it takes to be precise

I am relatively young and while visiting family from out of town I had a small bowel obstruction that required emergency surgery. I can't express how happy I was to have Dr. Vargo as my doctor. Not only was he a very competent doctor, but he was super patient with all of my questions. He gave me all the information I wanted and really let me make the decisions for my healthcare. My case was an unusual one and he even took the time to ask other specialists their opinion to try and figure out what may have caused my issues. Aside from his competent care, I really felt like Dr. Vargo was my one true ally in the hospital. This happened right as things were starting to open up following the initial COVID shelter-in-lace, so there was no family visitation or anything like that in the hospital. The attending physician in the hospital pretty much ignored me. I told him I wasn't getting enough fluids through my IV, that I felt very dehydrated and it was causing my mouth to hurt pretty bad,… but he wouldn't give me more for some reason. Dr Vargo overruled him and immediately gave me what I needed to help me be as comfortable as possible given everything that was going on. He really advocated for me, which was super helpful, especially during a time when family members were unable to advocate for me since they weren't allowed in the hospital If you have a choice in surgeons in any area that Dr. Vargo practices in, you should absolutely seek him out. I'm so, so glad that he was my doctor.

I really enjoyed my gallbladder surgery consultation with Dr. Vargo. He came highly recommended and was referred by my family practice physician. I did my research as well prior to my appointment. As all of his positive reviews stated he really does know his specialty, he really answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns, pros and cons etc. He has a great personality and is warm, welcoming, and educated me to assist with future surgical options. He is a Fantastic Board Certified Doctor whom I trust and am comfortable with, highly recommend!

Dr. Vargo is very professional and skilled as a physician. His staff is very friendly and extremely helpful when it comes to his patients needs and the healing process. Dr. Vargo was a referral and I am happy to have found such a caring and responsive doctor. He is up front and will take care of your needs from start to the last follow up visit. Dr. Vargo was the first doctor in the Vegas area that I I felt heard my concerns, took the time to listen and explain all of my options to me. He was timely, knowledgeable and treated me as if I was one of his own family members. I had an in office surgical procedure to remove a lipoma and found both him and his office staff extremely professional and accommodating. I am so thankful that I was referred to him and highly recommend him to others.

After a recent hospitalization I was greeted by Dr. Vargo and my mood was instantly uplifted. He was the kindest doctor that I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with, speaking to me like a person and friend instead of a patient. He took the time to stay with me and answer every question I could think of and even some I didn’t think of. Even after leaving the hospital if I called his office with any questions he would return my call personally. It made me feel so taken care of. I would recommend Dr. Vargo again and again.
