Dr. Steven R Abo has the following 3 specialties
A gastroenterologist is a specialist in diagnosis and treatment of conditions involving the digestive/gastrointestinal (GI) tract. These organs are responsible for many essential bodily functions, such as production of hormones and enzymes, filtering the blood, detoxifying chemicals, metabolizing drugs, and digesting and processing food.
Common disorders that are treated by hepatologists are cirrhosis of the liver, gallstones, pancreatitis and hepatitis.

An internist is a physician who focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions that affect the adult population—both acute and chronic.<br>These doctors are often who adults see as their primary physicians because they treat a broad range of illnesses that do not require surgical or specialist interventions. Not really satisfied...
Self-verified patient of Dr. Steven R Abo - Posted on November 16th, 2015
He's a nice guy and seems smart, but I don't feel like he cares about my issue or particularly wants to spend any of his time getting to the bottom of it. I was somewhat offended during my second of 4 times seeing him when he suggested that maybe my condition was "all in my head." Um, no, you don't say that to a patient. Also, my issue is a recurring symptom that occurs at least 3 times daily, and he doesn't feel the need to order me for a follow-up appointment any more frequently than every 3 months. So I'm out shopping for a new doc for a second opinion now.

My experience with Dr. Abo was wonderful. He did an endoscopy procedure at Magee Hospital many years ago. He is very caring, smart and compassionate and made sure that I understood everything that would occur during my procedure. He was very gentle. I think he is one of the best gastrointerologist in Pittsburgh. I have recommended him to everyone that I know.
