Dr. Alfond was my anesthesiologist at New Hope Fertility Center in which I had my hysteroscopy completed. I was severely lacking confidence in the facility itself, but was able to put all of my trust in the hands of Dr. Alfond. I did not complete ratings for wait time and office staff as these were completely unrelated to Dr. Alfond, instead reflecting the practice with which he was working. He set my mind at ease regarding his end of the procedure, carefully explaining the differences between general anesthesia and the concept of conscious sedation, which he was using. Dr. Alfond located my difficult to find veins with only the slightest pinch. He talked me through every step including the final countdown to sedation. I was "awake" soon after the procedure. Dr. Alfond monitored me off and on for nearly 45 minutes after my procedure even though there were no complications. I truly wish I could hire Dr. Alfond for any/all future procedures requiring an anesthesiologist.

Dr Alfond was the anthesiologist for a GI procedure I had at Concorde Medical Group where I was a patient when I lived in NYC. He is not only knowledgeable and compassionate, but yes - he has a terrific sense of humor! Since I previously had less than desireable experiences under anesthesia he educated me on the difference between the general anesthesia I had before and the sedation he would provide. I have difficult veins to access and he hit the vein in my left arm - painlessly - on the first try. He followed up with me after my procedure to notify me that I experienced some spikes in my BP while under sedation. Why am I writing this 'evaluation' now? Who knew people rated their drs on the Internet!? In 2010 I had an endoscopy in another state. The system felt like an assembly line; I was continuously asked about my colonoscopy when I was having an endoscopy. (I'm so glad I kept my pants on!) The staff was not listening to me and they were making mince meat out of my veins. All I could think of was "I soooo wish I was in NY and where is Dr Alfond when I need him?" If you can choose your anesthesiologist (and to some extent, yes you can) I'd highly recommend Dr Steven Alfond.

Dr. Alfond's bedside manner is not what you would expect from a doctor of his stature but, he kept me laughing and hanging on every word before and after my procedure!! I would highly recommend him do to the fact that he makes any process feel like a day in the park(with entertainment).
