Dr. Steven Michael Arkin, MD

DR ARKIN ALWAYS SEEM TO BE IN A HURRY, VISITS AT FIRST WERE 4 TO 5 MIN. AFTER FEW YEARS HE SEEM TO GET BETTER , BUT DOES NOT SPENT ENOUGH TIME WITH HIS PATIENTS. HE NEEDS TO WORK ON THAT. I DO NOT THINK HE IS A BAD DOCTOR, NEEDS TO WORK ON HIS BEDSIDE MANNER MORE, HE WILL RUSH YOU OUT THE ROOM.

Doctor Arkin is very good at his job. He treated me in the ER for a stroke. I was admitted to ICU...because of his fast assessment of my condition I have NO damage from my stroke and I have made a complete recovery. He answered all my questions and concerns and follow up was excellent.

Waited 3 months for a F/U visit after a stroke, we had to direct the whole conversation and steer him from talking totally about his wife and when and where they met. Very little information, a waste of time. Not going back!

Tried to switch to another neuro at this office but their policy will not allow appt without the sign-off with original doctor, namely Dr Arkin. multiple long waits on the phone, still no sign off or appt after 2months. Even with help from my Dr's office no success and no call backs. Do not waste your time with this Dr or office personell

Once was enough. waited 2months for appt. Was supposed to have follow-up at 4weeks. Did not read my record nor the 10 page questionaire required to be faxed before appt. Spent 5 minutes and dismissed symptoms and side effects as "conditioning issues." No follow-up. Recent ER visit with another TIA and he was the only neuro on call. Released me w/o seeing me walk with remaining left side coordination issue. Missed a stroke by only reading the scans. "You"re fine. See me for a follow-up in 4weeks." Never again.

Right at first, wasn't too sure about doc. I tend to be forthcoming and totally honest, being myself, talk as I want, cuss words & all, etc. w/any doctor from the moment he walks into the room. At first, I could tell he wasn't quite comfortable with that. We started seeing each other in 2001-02. He was accurate in diagnosis of my RLS, peripheral neuropathy, and worked hard with my rheumatologist, me having inflammatory arthritis and fibromyalgia also. We tried many different meds & he always kept in mind whether they would work with my other problems & meds, including the ones my PCP prescribed me. After a year or two, we became more comfortable & in tune with each other. We finally found, and it took 2-3 years , the right combination for my problems. I still have setbacks, but I know now what to do in order to make it better & a shorter time frame, being in tune with my own body & doc's suggestions. He's said that he's even talked to several colleagues about me, about my problems, due… to the differences I have to deal with, so I know he cares about me as a patient & a person. I see him at the South office, which is easier for me to get to.

I was diagnosed as having a stroke in Jan. As follow up I was assigned Dr Arkin. I found him to be very comfortable and at ease talking with me and my family. I found his nurses to be very understanding and open. Thanks Dr Arkin.

In the summer of 04 Dr. Arkin diagnosed me properly (DVT in my brain) and got me the care I needed very quickly. (surgery to remove the clot) Perhaps I'm the minority, but thought it worth a positive comment ...

I went to Dr. Arkin three times to help with my headaches. Each appointment he spent less than 5 minutes with me and was more concerned with seeing more patients than helping me with my headaches. They finally got so bad that I went to the emergency room and they found I have a brain tumor. This could have been found two years earlier if Dr. Arkin had actually listened to my symptoms and cared about solving my pain. I warn all current and potential patients that this doctor will be complacent with you heath. He needs to be banned from practicing medicine.

Agree with the other reviewers. Dr. Arkin didn't even try to be pleasant. My husband had a stroke and after he got out of the hospital he was referred to Dr. Arkin. My husband went once but once was enough. Another physician does his followup care now.
