Dr. Steven W Luger, MD

Dr Luger is excellent, taking the time to discuss issues and to explain the "what and why" regarding health problems. He describes in detail what is happening, treatment options, and thoroughly explains proper medication usage.

This doctor spent half of the visit telling me how great of a doctor he was. I have been diagnosed with Lyme Disease and two tick borne confections by multiple doctors over the past 7yrs. I brought all of my records with me so he could see all of the testing I have had. He looked me right in the face and told me I simply had Mono.... He then told me the only way to truly diagnose Lyme is through a spinal tap which he refused to order for me. I currently have state insurance otherwise I never would have wasted my time seeing this “doctor”. Doctors at the very least would want to order tests to rule out a disease if they do not believe a patient has it so the patient can go down a new avenue to get better. Go to a real Lyme Specialist as I have in the past and will continue to do so in the future. It is more clear than ever that it is definitely worth the money.

Dr. Luger is very caring, honest, and knowledgable about Lyme. He spends a lot of time with his patients. [Also, the nurse who works with him is wonderful.] My son went to Dr. Luger in Aug. 2017 for Lyme after symptoms became so severe he had to quit his job. Dr. Luger spent about an hour and a half explaining about Lyme and treatments. After a Western blot test confirmed late stage Lyme and because my son's symptoms were neurological/brain (extreme fatigue, brain fog, constant and severe headache, sleep problems, tingling in arm), we chose to go with the intravenous treatment (3 weeks). Dr. Luger was very upfront and informative about the chance of recovery. After the treatment and over the course of several months, my son's symptoms slowly disappeared. It's now been 7 months since the initial treatment, and my son's symptoms have not returned and he's preparing to go back to work.

Dr Luger has recently retired from Hartford Medical Group and his absence will be a huge loss for the practice. He was my husband's and my PCP for over 25 years....the best doctor we EVER had....he was kind, considerate and a brilliant diagnostician. We trusted him implicitly and had hopes of his being our doctor for forever. His retirement is a great loss to the medical community. I can only hope that he decides to come out of retirement...we want him back!

Dr. Luger treated me for Lyme Disease from 1988-1992. He was thorough, professional, extremely knowledgeable, kind, and gave me whatever time I needed. Above all, he listened to me and believed me. He treated aggressively and, I believe, is the only reason I have good health today. I have been searching for him to give him a huge "thank you" for saving my health and my emotional well-being. He is beyond amazing!!

Take time to get to know you. Really has a caring and concerned attitude. I have been through many medical problems and Dr. Luger has been so accurate and precise in his treatment. His study in Lyme disease helped me to catch this at an early stage and treat it quickly. He also is open and willing to reccommend a specialist (and all the specialists I have been reccommended to by Dr. Luger have been nothing short of exceptional)I can't say enough good things about this Doctor. I would and have reccommended him to anyone.
