Dr. Steven Michael Schwimmer, DO

It isn't easy to make appointments to fit your needs as he only works in his office nine hours a week! Promptness in his time whether office visits or hospital visits became too difficult! The staff is difficult to work with as they do not listen to your concerns and do not offer much assistance with making appointments, they too are very stand offish! His bedside manner could use a GREAT DEAL OF WORK! He does not listen, does not answer questions, does not explain medicine or his choice of changing the medicine, he does so without your knowledge, especially in the hospital. My Doctor and the hospital nurses had to explain his choices the best they could given his notes. I was lucky if he came to visit me before 5:00pm on any given day, and lucky if he spent two minutes with me with any concerns or explanations for anything regarding my health care or my medicines! He also made an unexplained, unprofessional call to my family care provider making him believe my condition had gotten… worse and I needed admission to a hospital or nursing home. With follow up to my family care provider he discovered it was untrue. My health was good, my wound was doing great, I did NOT need to be admitted and could go home with the exception of my doctor and another on call infectious disease doctor taking over my case to discover Steven M Schwimmer, DO was also over dosing me with Vancomycin which caused certain blood levels to increase making it a risky health issue. Never would I refer this doctor to anyone, yes maybe he knows his medicine but between pro and con there are many more cons of him as a caring, understanding, and to work in a team effort in your best interest as a patient to treat your illness, personal feelings and needs as a whole!

Very standoffish, left me with no answers to my questions until I was free of infection...NEVER told me what I had until I cornered him at an appointment months later-asking him if I had Mrsa. He said "Oh, didn't I discuss that with you". Nope, sorry, never did. Never asnwered me about if it was fully gone from my body or if I could ever be reinfected or if I carried the bug now...poor record keeping as well. Kept me wondering if he was competent the entire time I was under his "Care".

This doctor needs to listen more to his patients.
