Dr. Steven Marc Sokoll, MD

Overprescribed medications, leading to serious personal issues that took years to recover from.

He saw my 10 year old son with the consent of my exhusband and myself and after 2 visits Dr. Sokoll informed us he did not need to be seen anymore as he was doing well. He then saw him a third time. I called him to ask him that I be informed of my son’s appointments and his progress. He said that he was not organized enough to do this and he saw no need to keep me in the loop. I told him that I did not want him seeing my son anymore and sent him a letter withdrawing my consent for him to treat my son. Dr. Sokoll saw him twice more despite the fact that he did not have parental consent to treat a minor.

Dr. Sokoll helped us after my teenager stumped others. My son connected with him easily, and both my husband and I found him tremendously helpful.

Superficial; did not seem to care about my son's problems; confused about medication history even though I had been clear about it; not helpful at all. I had been referred to him by my son's pediatrician, and I was not impressed at all. I felt like I wasted my money. Would not recommend him for even a simple problem. He practically threw a temper tantrum when I suggested to him that he didn't seem interested in helping us. I would not recommend him for anything but a simple problem, or one that he could help by simply writing a prescription.

I found Steve Sokoll approachable and thorough. He listened to me and really got to know me in his evaluation. I have sent several friends to him, all of whom found his care very helpful.

I have recommended Dr. Sokoll to many friends, all of whom greatly appreciated his care and manner.

Dr. Sokoll is highly competent and caring psychiatrist.

mis-diagnosed my problem; prescribed a medication that had terrible side-effects; ignored my calls about the side-effects; told me to stop taking the medication and did not follow-up with me. Could not reach him after leaving several phone messages. Had to find another doctor to treat me as an emergency situation. Sokoll was actually dishonest about what he could do for me and i later proved it.
