I had spine surgery in Spring 2016 done by Dr. Weil (L5/S1 herniated disc). The surgery went very well. I am very happy with this doctor and highly recommend him.

An excellent surgeon--and I got recommendations from people in the surgery business. But also very good at explaining the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.

I met with Dr. Weil after working with another neurologist and having an MRI of my spine. As soon as I faxed Dr. Weil my MRI report , he scheduled an appointment two days later. I picked Dr. Weil because he had a lot of experience with knock and back surgery and my local neurologist was not as experienced. In our consult, he showed me the MRI results on his computer and also used a plastic replica of the spine to demonstrate my issues, which were that the L3-L4 disk was somewhat crushed and a piece of it was in the spinal canal causing me extreme pain in my legs, hips and rear end. He was very patient and offered me a minimally invasive option that should ensure a reasonably fast recovery, which is key since I was going on a European vacation in 4 weeks. The morning of the surgery the pain was so intense that I could barely walk from the bed to the kitchen table. Now 1 week after my 2-1/2 hour operation, I am able to get out of bed and chairs with no pain and can walk about a 1/2… mile. There is still a back ache when I walk and I expect that will diminish over the next 3 weeks. Recovery was challenging as I reacted badly to the pain reliever (Tylenol plus codeine) and the muscle relaxant such that by three days after the operation, I was off those meds and just taking Advil. The hospital, St. Lukes, was great too. Just wish that traffic in the Med Center was less congested. 3 people on my street have now used Dr. Weil and we all recommend him. Obviously, the final proof will be a few weeks down the road, when I hope to be walking a few miles a day with no pain.

My husband had been seeing another doc with his back problems for years. Unfortunately, that doc stopped seeing Medicare patients. We went to Dr. Weil based on his ratings and a friend's recommendation. We were NOT disappointed! He took time to thoroughly explain the MRI findings and answer our questions. We were disappointed that he explained surgery was not an option for my husband - he has too many serious problems! We appreciate his honesty and would recommend him.

Dr. Weil is an amazing neurosurgeon. He made me feel like my 3 level ACDF (Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion) from C3-C6 was his artwork. He had every bit of confidence that he did the best job and better than anyone else could have done. I showed the post-op xray to many other doctors and they all said it looked perfect. And NO nerve damage. His PA is really amazing too! The only thing that was difficult was that my body doesn't process Morphine and he wouldn't give me anything stronger, so I felt every bit of pain and it was terrible. However, it was totally worth it for his skills and caring heart.

It has been almost 20 years since Dr. Weil performed emergency back surgery on me for 2 herniated discs. I had surgery on a Thursday and was back to work on Monday. I am 57 now and have been virtually pain free since. I praise Dr. Weil and am so very grateful to him every day.

Dr Weil is so knowledgable about my MRI. He showed us what all could be done that showed on the MRI or what could be done to relieve my pain and allow me to walk again. At 70 years old, I just wanted to be able to walk and sit for any length of time. Cardiac clearance was ordered by his staff, using my Dr. I was given a sheet with every detail up to the surgery and after. I never had to worry about details. I ask to be first and I was taken In very quickly. All the pain meds were ordered a head of time, with no problem but my overnight nurse' attitude. I would recommend him to anyone and was told that the nurses at the hospital would use him as well. Great attitude to go along with the skill.

Dr Weil was professional and we felt great rapport. He made us feel at ease. We felt very confident in his abilities. He helped us understand the diagnosis. We are very pleased we choose him to be our doctor
