Dr. Sunita Tikku, MD

I have never experienced such poor health care from a provider. Her staff is amazing and patient. She is another story. Always terminally late (I scheduled all my appointments for first in the morning so I could get to work on time and she was ALWAYS 45-60 minutes late). She tried to make me go on medications that I did not agree with/had bad reactions to and when reported back to her, all that I received was indifference. I needed one medication she prescribed for me, which is the only reason I kept going to see her until I found someone else. It didn't matter my mood - I could be crying in her office and she was cold and dismissive. I finally learned to say "everything's great", get my refills, and then find a good therapist who I could actually work with (and found me a better Dr.). I truly believe she is one of the worst psychiatrists I have ever been to.

If I could give 0 stars I would. After waiting 2 hours in the waiting room for my appointment the medical assistant spoke with me regarding my reason for my visit for a brief 15 minutes. I was sent back to the waiting room for an additional 20 minutes. My "one hour evaluation" was a maximum of 40 minutes and the doctor suggestioned I go on an immediate treatment of 3 medications daily. When I asked what my diagnosis was and why I required 3 separate medications to better understand their purpose, she immediately became defensive asking why I had come to her to not follow recommend treatment. I told her I was not refusing treatment I just had questions about the treatment. She rudely told me she had no time for this and she had other patients. I told her to write the prescriptions or even simply write the names down to go over them with my primary care doctor if she did not have the time and she told me I was not welcome to return to her office. Then stated if I wanted to go over… medications with my primary doctor then I could seek all treatment as far as she was concerned from my primary care doctor. If any doctor does not have TIME to go over a patients medications then they shouldn't be allowed to write prescriptions for them. Period. Worst first visit experience I've had to date. To top it off, I sought treatment for anxiety and panic attacks, when my primary doctor requested the notes from my visit she had listed my diagnosis as "long term depression" which is 100% inaccurate. I got the feeling that she must get a commission from the drug company and writes all her patients the same medications without accurate diagnosises. Would NEVER recommend. If I could recommend anything it would be her medical license being revoked. Patients come to you for help, not for you to make a dollar or to make them feel as they are an inconvenience.

I brought my mother to see her with a referral from her Primary Physician and I was shocked. I have never met a person who was as rude and demeaning to people as she was. For her to be a doctor with this attitude is bad enough, but to be a psychiatrist it is unbelievable. I would never recommend this person to anyone who needed help or someone to talk to. Save yourself the experience and don't bother trying to see or talk to her.

She is too horrible for words highly highly recommend no one goes to her! She should have her license pulled!

Comes across as haughty and certainly never made me feel that she cared about my situation at all. She asked a few stupid questions and then wrote on her computer before dismissing me. I don't think I was ever with her for more than 8 minutes.

Dr. Tikku has been an outstanding member of my care team assisting me through living with metastatic breast cancer. She has encouraged me to feel positive about having psychiatric support through this very difficult journey and the treatment she has given me has been very helpful. I would recommend her to anyone who needs this kind of care.

I've endured Dr. Tikku's rudeness, lack of caring, inappropriate bedside manner and inability to listen if you are questioning meds she wants you to try, for way too many years. I have reasons I did not want to take a med she kept pushing me to take, but she did not want to listen as to why I was not able to take that med. I knew then I had to find another doctor. I'm not even sure she has diagnosed me correctly. She does not ask questions and does not have a nice give and take conversation with you. I regret seeing her as long as I did. For people having mental disorders, I do not recommend seeing this doctor.

I had the worst possible experience with this doctor. Starting with a diagnosis she spoke to me for about 7 minutes and quickly and eagerly prescribed a medicine that totally disabled me. I could not function or get out of bed for 2 days. I have been back twice and she switched my medicine when I asked her about getting healthy and eventually weaning myself off of the meds, she became indignant and irate, she stated that I would have to be on meds for the rest of my life. Just like blood pressure medicine. She then proceeded to ejected me from her office. This doctor never properly diagnosed me, she is rude, unsympathetic, unprofessional, and lacks proper bedside manners.

Dr. Tikku is one of the utmost fabulous doctors I have every had the experienced to be a patient of. Her concern for your problems, feelings and treatment is genuine and thorough. Her advice is sound, not always easy to swallow, but after digesting what is suggested you know it's correct. Her staff was instrumental in helping me receive the medication that was needed through the pharm. companies with no cost to me. I have always recommended her to friends and they have had nothing but positive experiences.

STAFF IS TERRIBLE, THEY SET UP APPOINTMENTS AND THEN WHEN YOU GET THERE YOU DON'T HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. THEY MAKE IT YOUR FAULT AND NOT THEIRS AND ARGUE WITH YOU ABOUT IT. NOT VERY FRIENDLY AND VERY INEPT AT THEIR JOB. TOO BAD BECAUSE DTR TIKKU IS A GOOD DOCTOR.
