Dr. Suraj Alva, MD

. I Had a mucocele of appendix and according to him that needs to be removed urgently as I will die in 6 months. I was really disappointed by his attitude and approach as sounded as he is on commission desperate to put me in for surgery. I am still alive and well, had such a bad experience.

Had a surgical consult about 10 days ago. He spent a tremendous amount of time with my son and I. Though surgery is serious, doc answered any and all questions and allayed my fears as best and honestly as he could. Would definitely recommend Dr Alva

Dr. Alva did a surgery on me a year ago. My condition not only not getting better, it is getting worse. Before the surgery, he did not explain to me all the consequences. I ended up had very bad medical conditions I had to deal with. He didn’t do the follow up call. He didn’t care about his patients. I regretted so much of having him done my surgery. My worst medical decision I had ever had. I definitely not recommend him to anyone.

Excellent surgeon with fantastic bedside manor. Extremely knowledgeable. I have Crohn's Disease diagnosed 1992. Multiple surgeries before Dr. Alva. Went to him with perianal, rectal and rectal vaginal fistulas. Ostomy surgery in 2009 by dr. Alva. He is one of the best surgeons I've been to. He doesn't just treat the problem, he cares about you as a person which is rare these days. He listens to you. Highly recommended.

Very unsatisfied. Misdiagnosed me and when I called 2 days later complaining of pain they told me they would call back. I called 3 times that day (it was a Friday) pleading with them to call me back as I was in pain and it was going into the weekend. They NEVER called back. Not even on the following Monday. And they had the nerve to charge me almost $200 when I had to go to another doctor to be properly diagnosed and have to pay them as well. DO NOT GO HERE! In addition to the horrible doctor, my appointment was over an hour late only to be seen for less than 5 minutes. Don't take anyone you care about to see this group. The whole group deserves 0 stars

I met Dr.Alva at overlook hospital in Nov. 2014 while fighting another bout with a serious UC flare-up. He had just completed surgery on a patient that was assigned to my room, something I was beginning to consider for myself - surgery, that is. I was so impressed with his overall bedside manner, his regular visits, sharing of information, his explanations, and mostly, his "humanity" towards the patient, and of course, the positive results, that I thought this could certainly be a candidate surgeon for my surgery. Once I decided to proceed with surgery & following a couple of interviews, I selected Dr. Alva. In early 2015, had part 1 of my 2 surgical procedures - where I lived with an ostomy pouch (much easier than originslly anticipated) & finally, one week ago, had the reversal done. I cannot say enough about Dr. Alva; always available, always taking the time to explain things and always a100% genuine person that does not measure his time with you by looking at a clock. I recommend… him highly!!
