After completing of residency in Psychiatry at VA North Chicago, IL, Dr. Kahlon continued to work with the veteran population for the next 24 years. The residency trained him well to deal with various psychiatric issues such as Major Depressive disorder, Panic Disorder, Generalized anxiety disorder, Obsessive-compulsive disorder, PTSD. His approach is to treat the whole person, through medications, active listening, and recommending talk-centered counseling programs. Medications are used to modulate brain receptors for many of the illnesses mentioned above.
He has had experience in the use of ECT ( Electro Convulsive Therapy). He uses logic and reasoning to make potentially life-saving or life-changing decisions. His experience ranges from working with inpatients and outpatients and also as a consultant. He has supervised Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners for several years. After the evaluation of a patient, he works out a plan discusses it with the patient, and then proceeds to treat the condition with the help of psychotherapeutic medications and other treatment modalities as needed. Other members of the treatment team, such as physicians, social workers, and psychologists, are approached to collaborate in treatment only after permission is granted by the patient.
What is SohoMD?
Dr. Edward Ratush and Dr. Jacques Jospitre began as colleagues with a shared value: treating their patients as whole people instead of simply medicating their diagnoses and symptoms. In 2011, they co-founded SohoMD, a group psychiatric practice built on the belief that the body and mind have huge untapped healing potential.
