Dr. Susan Christine Capelle, MD

I agree with the one star review from June 2022. Dr Cappelle treated me with contempt. I saw her for a pre-surgery consult while very vulnerable physically and emotionally. I am disappointed in myself that I didn’t advocate better for myself or just walk out. She had me totally cowed by her vitriol. Once I had processed what happened, I changed surgeons.

I am at a loss as to understand why this woman is in medicine. Perhaps someone with her mentality would have been appropriate in the medical field 60 years ago, but not today, not in 2022. And it is truly unacceptable and deeply troubling for her to be in gynecology. Dr. Capelle is neither compassionate nor receptive to the needs of her patients. My experience with her was indescribably humiliating and dehumanizing. She talked over me. She cut me off when I tried to speak. She continuously raised her voice and at some points during the appointment she was actually yelling at me. It was obvious she had neither the time nor the patience to deal with me, a patient with a history of assault and PTSD. When I tried to explain to her that I was uncomfortable with gynecological examinations and procedures because of a previous traumatic medical experience, she said in a raised, exasperated tone, “You need to get over that, that happened years ago!” She knew that I had a history involving… sexual assault, but she still felt it was acceptable to tell me to get over a medical trauma involving my genitals. I am now so traumatized I avoid going to the doctor. I have panic attacks at the thought of gynecological appointments. At every medical appointment now, I and am sick, I shake uncontrollably, my blood pressure and heart rate are elevated into dangerous levels. For me, she has turned medical care, a necessity in life, into an unimaginably terrifying and stressful experience. I would not recommend Dr. Capelle to anyone, especially anyone with a history of trauma: sexual, medical, or otherwise. It is particularly unnecessary for anyone to go to her when there are so many excellent gynecologists in the Morgantown area. Please, for your own sake, do not go to her for medical care, and tell everyone you know to avoid her at all costs.

I have never had a complaint at any previous visits to Dr. Capelle’s office until Monday, Sept 9,2019. My appt was at 8 am and I always am early out of respect of others and I arrived at around 7:40. I walked in and over to the window and the window slid open and this is what I was told. A finger pointed for me to have a seat over there. Over there was a stool against the wall and I didn’t get a good morning, a how are you, and she didn’t even ask me my name. She was talking to one of the girls that worked there which is fine but...... then another lady walked in and she did the same thing to her. I have a bad back so I got up and went over to a more comfortable seat. She didn’t even start my paperwork until about 8 minutes until it was time for me to go. I’m not even sure she remembered me being there until I went to get a magazine. At no time did she ever address me by name or say good morning or anything at all. I wouldn’t recommend this dr to my enemy. She is terrifying . Has no respect, compassion and care for her patients . My experience with her was so traumtic!!

I have been a patient here for over 10 years and have never had a negative experience. The staff is kind, thoughtful, and thorough. I highly recommend.

The best gynecology experience I have ever had. Come from Fairmont just because she's the best and has a wonderful staff. Highly recommend her.

Not to speak bad of men OB's but they do not "get it". Not having lived in a woman's body they have the knowledge, but not experienced it. Dr. Capelle understands what you are telling her and goes above and beyond to do the best option for your issue. That she is a surgeon also is a plus! Highly recommend her, very caring, excellent bedside manner and surgeon.

Thorough diagnostician and surgeon. Matter-of-fact personality- not "sweet" but is respectful.

This woman is surgery crazy, at the least. She knows nothing but what the govt tells her to know and what Big Pharma sells her. Her ego is bigger than her heart and her mind combined. She has no bedside manner. I got the impression that she thinks very negatively of WV women. I happen to look like an urban-dweller and she actually asked me what "brought" me to WV (I am FROM here!). The procedure she did to me left me in so much pain and I was bleeding for days. She could have cared less. Yes, she did call me. But she was obnoxious, as was her assistant. They are so not used to being questioned. They are used to "yes, doctor" patients -- sheeple. She finally told me that she did not think that she could have me as a patient (I had only seen her twice). I said "great" because I definitely no longer wanted her as my doctor! She even left me in the middle of the in-office procedure in excruciating pain for what seemed like forever because, apparently, one of her assistants walked out on… her that morning. This was in 2005. I'll never get over what she did to me and I have never found a good female ob'gyn in Morgantown (I stopped looking). Do your homework. She is using HPV as a scare tactic to put you on her surgery treadmill. Makes a LOT of $$ for her.
