Dr. Susan Dale Charlamb, MD

I couldn't disagree more with the people that gave her "one star". This lady is a Godsend. She's very intellectual. She's smarter than any psychiatrist I've ever had. She knows her stuff. Sue is compassionate, loves animals and loves her patients. The lady doesn't have a mean bone in her body. For her to be that stern with somebody, THEY must be the problem. She's amazing. I would refer her to anyone!

I had seen 6 psychiatrists in one year when I first started seeing Dr Charlamb. It is difficult to find a psychiatrist with whom you are comfortable. She is very direct which can seem rude; however, she is only encouraging reflection

In the three months I’ve been seeing dr. Charlamb, I’ve noticed she truly does care about her patients, and knows medicine isn’t always the only answer to life’s problems. I can for sure see some of the other reviews as having valid points; she may come off as harsh and too down to earth and reality at times, but if you take a moment to think you can at least understand her intentions aren’t rudeness by any means. She’s just trying to push you towards being the best you can be.

Susan Charlamb has been my Doctor since 2006. She is a very educated and a very intelligent Psychiatrist. She is a thoughtful and a kind person. If she wasn't a good Dr. and a good person, I wouldn't have been going to see her for the past 12-years. I haven’t experienced, or observed any of the negative qualities noted in some of these reviews. I myself am a Certified Addictions Counselor. I understand that people who have complex psychiatric and or addiction issues, are not always easy to treat, or easy to please.

I had been seeing Dr. Charlamb for a few years. I am 45 and was told that I needed to take less Ativan because I won't be able to take benzodiazepines in my 60's. We never discussed a plan for tapering off. It came as a total surprise when I realized she cut my doseage in half. I need to wean slower than that. She said we discussed the new dosage but I do not recall such a conversation. She became confrontational and said I better give her a good reason to prescribe the original dose. I told her that I need to wean slower or I will have insomnia and extreme anxiety. I also said that my husband had mentioned my copay seemed high for a 15 minute appt. she looked in my file and said "Give me a break, your husband works for Mercedes Benz and you are planning an all inclusive trip to Mexico. Wow!!!! I've never been treated so unprofessionally. After that appointment, I started weaning my way from 3 mg daily to 1.5 mg/day. I planned to inform her of that at my next appointment. … Today, I received a letter from her office terminating me from seeing her. She said my case was closed. I tried contacting the office to find out why. I have not heard back and plan to find a better doctor. I'm a childhood stroke survivor that had seen numerous doctors over the last 36 years. I have never been terminated nor has any doctor spoken a negative word about me. I have never written a negative review for a doctor but I feel it is warranted.

My appointment this past Monday was a total crap show. Monday was extremely discouraging and traumatic for me. I'm beginning to lose the little hope I had in getting the proper care and medications for my mental health. I was Monday that I needed to change my life and get away from my family and loved ones if I was so unhappy and dealing with severe anxiety. I was also made to feel like crap about being "just a receptionist". I was also told that if I was put back on a medication that has helped me in the past and worked for me, that I would "get myself in trouble with the law and become a drug addict." I was told a "magic pill" isn't going to fix my problems because I "want to stay home with mommy". This woman doesn't know how close I am with my family, she doesn't know how fulfilling my "just a receptionist" job is and has been for me. She CLEARLY doesn't understand that mental health issues are due to a chemical imbalance in the brain, that can't be fixed by simply changing your… surroundings. She doesn't know that I've been busting my butt to pay off debts and am saving money to move out and build my life. She said all of this to me after talking to me for 20 minutes and then prescribed me a pill that is used for migraines, that I was on in the past (for migraines) WITH an anxiety medication. If it didn't work then by its self, it's not going to work now. I didn't get the script filled, and I WILL NOT be back to see this person. I cried during the entire appointment because of how condescending, judgmental and rude she was. While I was crying, she proceeded to grab herself a tissue, blow her nose, and she didn't offer me one. I looked at the tissue box next to me and it was empty. After the appointment upon finding this website full of AWFUL reviews about this "doctor", I saw that she uses this as a metaphor. How sickening!!! Halfway through, I spoke up and said "Clearly we have a misunderstanding or you're just not listening to what I'm saying to you, because I am more than well aware that these issues I have are not due to the people/situations around me, its because of a chemical imbalance in my brain. "Dr." Susan Charlamb is a horrible human and she should NOT be practicing psychiatry. I left that office in worse shape than when I walked in the door. I will be reporting her to the board of psychiatry and whatever else I need to do to make it known what kind of a "doctor" she is. It is utterly heartbreaking that these types of people are allowed to practice and make people feel awful. This is not a medical professional, this is someone who wants to make money by getting off on making people feel horrible about themselves. Don't waste your time, money or energy here. If I could rate this 0 stars, I would.

We took our 10 year old daughter there one time for ADHD and anxiety. She basically told my daughter that her problem was that she wanted to be the center of attention and that is why she was always talking and interrupting people. My daughter and I both left in tears - I had to apologize to my daughter as it was the most horrible thing that she has ever had to go through - as if if ADHD, dyslexia and anxiety aren't enough of a blow to her self-esteem. Never went back and would not recommend her to even my worst enemy!

I would not waste my time seeing her. Overall, Everyone in the office including front desk receptionist are rude and do not care about patient care even though that is their job. I have been seeing doctor sue for 7 years now and I was diagnosed with a severe case of ADD/ADHD. At the beginning I would have regular appointments every other week, and then I started extending them to every month and so on. In my last couple of visits to her I have been very disappointed in the way the staff has treated me. It is your job to take care of patients and not give them even more trouble when they are already having trouble, hense why we are coming to the doctor. Doctor sue is all around loosing it I believe, because my last visit about a month ago she does not remember diagnosing me of my disorder. I was very upset with her and she doesn't even have my files past 2011. She looses everything and is very unorganized. The room is very messy and she just has files and papers everywhere, no wonder… why she looses people information. You can NEVER get a hold of her on her cell phone or email when needed in a emergency situation, so that doesn't help. I try calling to talk to her or make a appointment and the ladies at the front desk just want to make everything way more difficult and they forget to remember also that they are not my doctor. It is sad that I am 24 years old now and my mother has to come to my appointment with me for support because doctor sue is forgetting things and wont fit my needs that I need and I am leaving more stressed then I already was coming to the appointment. I have been going by myself for years and its sad when your mother has to come with me. I am not seeing her anymore, so I had asked her for my file because it is mine and I need it for my new doctor, the lady at the front desk, Allison told me they were closing my file and I didn't ask for that. So basically, they are trying to refuse to give me MY INFORMATION. DO NOT waste your time going here, you will disappointed. HORRIBLE!

Please save your time. She is mean and manipulative. I went to see her today after a period of a few months where we didn't meet. She was ten minutes late for the meeting, then spent the next five minutes scheduling a vacation with her secretary. She ushered me in the room and proceeded to insult me repeatedly. She tried to tell me my close friends are like the characters from lord of the flies (which is a book about the worst people of humanity) even though that had nothing to do with what we were talking about. She told me the fact that I dont want to get up in the morning is my fault and that I just need to get up because no one wants to talk to a girl who sits in bed all day. She tried to tell me that it's my fault that the counsellors at school are mean to me. She tried to tell me that my sister doesn't love me. She even went so far as to compare me with an 80 year old morphine addict she sees. She even told me that I know why I can't concentrate - that I just needed to fix it.… She also let me cry in her office without giving me a tissue for an hour and when I was walking out the door she pointed at a stack of tissues I thought were empty and said that it's a metaphor. She couldn't just hand me a tissue during the meeting. I went an hour trying to dry my nose with my hand and she went out and humiliated me in front of my mom about it. Plus - she closed the meeting by telling me that I had just spent the last hour fighting her and complaining. I wasn't - I just kept trying to steer her back on topic because she was making Wild accusations about my friends, family, and livelihood. Please don't waste your time. I can say for sure that she didn't help my anxiety and depression, but worsened it.

The most down to earth and dedicated doctor I've seen. Very sensitive to the patients needs. My Phych for life.
