Dr. Susan Mary Vanscoyk-Simon, MD

Dr. Susan Van Scoyk was assigned to us as part of a PRE (parental responsibility evaluation) team with Dr. Michael Freedman. Although the PRE team came up with the right conclusions and I was awarded sole decision making for my son, I want to make you aware of a serious situation that significantly affected our lives. During the PRE, Dr. Van Scoyk came to find out my son's father, and his new wife, were placing me under surveillance, photographing my home, obsessing over me. Dr. Van Scoyk, a trained mental health professional, not only did nothing to curtail his behavior, she defended him in court. It is my opinion that her dangerous behavior contributed to an escalation of the stalking that nearly destroyed mine and my son's lives in the months/years that followed. I believe my son's father was emboldened by the fact that this mental health professional did not tell him what he was doing was unhealthy or wrong but rather made excuses for him. It took the Boulder police… conducting an investigation and charging them with felony stalking, contempt citations, multiple protection orders, me having sole decision making and multiple orders of the court to hopefully stop what Susan could have helped stop when she witnessed this starting. In my opinion, Susan was manipulated by my son's father and she harmed my son and me in the process. This is something I would take under very careful consideration when choosing which professional you want to trust when you need help.
