Referred to Dr. Zhovtis - my symptoms were not standard for MS. Just one lesion but I was experiencing weakness in my lymes and having troubble walking. When she heard I had been diagnosed with Lyme, I could tell she didn't believe in Lyme and its longterm impacts. Lyme can trigger MS like lesions. She took lots of blood and said I needed PT. When I followed up to fill the PT prescription she gave me (written on a piece of paper) - the NYU scheduling had never received it. She abandoned my case and referred me to other doctors. I have since pursued other doctors and have learned the lesion was the cause of whiplash injury and have had an operation on my spine for disc herniation and am now healing - walking and the lesion is going away. Zhovtis seemed caring on my first meeting - but it became evident that she didn't want to get involved with anything that migh be connected to Lyme. FYI- MS is like Lyme. There are no definitive tests for either - both through process of… elimination. However, she should have looked harder at the MRI she ordered. She should have referred me to an orthopedic surgeon or neurosurgeon. Don't be fooled by her soft spoken manner. Make her answer your questions - make her work a little harder than just ordering tests.
