Dr. Tanvir Choudhri, MD

I did not receive advice or treatment from Dr. Choudhri, as I unfortunately did not have the opportunity to meet with him. My wife and I waited over an hour past my scheduled appointment for a consultation (most of the time spent in a cold examination room) without anyone explaining or apologizing for the delay. I then spoke with a staff member and was informed that many patients waited well over an hour past their appointments to meet with the doctor. The implication was, "Who was I to complain about the length of the wait or the lack of common courtesy!" As it was apparent that the length of my wait was of no concern to the doctor or his staff, I cancelled the appointment and left to meet with my clients, at the times my office had scheduled their appointments.

Dr. Choudri was excellent. If you want a surgeon who truly cares, taking the time to discuss your medical procedure thoroughly with you and the risk vs. the benefits. Then this top surgeon is for you!

went to him for a second opinion. recommended against surgery and also additional MRI'S for a compression fracture. never called with the results. left repeated messages in person and on recording but still haven't heard back. that was 2 months ago.

Wrongly cut my facets of Lumbar spine,causing me go through severe pain and unstable condition to the point that icould stand even for one minute without severe pain. this lasted for 3 months and 20 days when i decided to see another neursurgeon who admitted me in hospital to do fusion of L5,L4,S1 of spine. SUBSEQUENTILY.ihave had considerale relief of pain.I had not been able to attend to my otherwise very busy practice of CARDIOLOGY AND INTERNAL MEDINE.Iwould not recommend him for any SURGERY.

"Doctor" is a teacher, a healer, a source of solace with intellectual integrity. Dr. Choudhri has performed two surgeries, the first not very challenging, the second resulted from his intuition that the obvious clinical inferences overlooked peculiar subtleties that caused clinical disquiet. I felt the meaning of fear when I realized I had a completely unanticipated high cord lesion. Before and after each surgery we discussed my intrapsychic conflicts with control. Our consultations were not only about my body but about my inner self; a philosophical readiness to share inner feelings with each other. Tanvir Choudhri defines “doctor”.

yes this doctor does push for surgery. maybe the reviewer below was not pushed, but how can you state that the rest of us are wrong? were you there? I can tell you that when I met with him he showed me my mri and told me that surgery was necessary. when I told asked him what about physical therapy. he made a face and said if I wanted that is fine but to keep in mind that it will not improve it and will get worse. i told him I would think it over and he responded by telling me that the longer I wait, it can not only get worse, but if I fall the wrong way, I could go paralyzed from the neck down. This scared me terribly so I went ahead with it. His nurse is rude and unfriendly and brushes you off like an annoying fly on her tightly buttoned blouse. after my surgery, he never came to see me. I kept asking for him but I was told he was doing another surgery and that he was with patients. excuses all the way through, he ended up sending another doctor to come in and check on me,… but he still never came never called nothing absolutely nothing. No one knew what they were doing. one nurse gave me a pillow, the other nurse removed it another nurse gave me a pillow again, because he gave no directions. It wasn't until another doctor came to see me that he specified no pillows. Of course the physical therapist came to see me and told me I could use a wedge pillow when I get home, but the doctor who came in to see me told me no pillows...conflicting information and where was doctor choudhri through out all of this? no where to be found. they even left him messages for an answer and I got no answer. I was told to contact his nurse/assistant....it was liking talking to a hole in the wall. she basically asked me "well what did choudhri tell you" nothing he was never around how many times I had to tell her was beyond me. when I saw him after the surgery it was a pain to deal with his nurse. all you hear her say was "emmmm hmmmmmmm, emmmm hmmmmm" whenever I told her my throat felt like I was choking. she gave me this look like I was a liar or something and gave her famous "emmmm hmmmmm" mentioned it to the doctor....and he completely completely disregarded giving me even the slightest explanation to this. physical therapy was a waste as the therapist had no idea what to do with me because of my throat/neck issues and was sent back to choudhri. phone calls after phone calls...I finally had to resort to emails as my only proof that I'm trying to reach him...only to get a call from one of the women in his office with attitude....and no one cares to squeeze you in for an appointment unless he specifically states it is urgent for them to schedule you...and please don't tell me this is a lie becasue I even brought this to his attention and his attitude was "well I been busy; it's better to see me in yonkers" who can go to yonkers when you don't own a car?! and why make that suggestion? why not deal with your staff? to this date, I still have complications, did he bother to go over my mri with me? did he bother to contact me to let me know he has received the results? no he has not...but I have to chase him around. he may be a great surgeon in his field, but he is a terrible doctor who does not care for you as a human being. you are another subject for him to do his passion on...he doesn't see you as a human and with no compassion. surgery and then he disappears. I regret whole heartedly doing this surgery, and other doctors I go to keep telling me to go back to him because he was the one who performed the surgery. how? he and his office does not even respond or reply, and he even admitted if you want better service go to yonkers...great way to admit your staff at mt. sinai are not the best and you're not willing to correct it. and yes....he did push for surgery. telling someone who says "they will think about it" that if they happen to fall down the wrong way while they're out thinking about it, they can go paralyzed, is a way of pushing...it's instilling fear in you I wish I could give him more stars for the fact that he is a good neurosurgeon, but for the fact that he does not care about his patients (didn't care about me), he pushed for surgery, treated me like I was just another cattle to move along the trail and completely forgot about me and never checked in on me...he gets just 2 stars

pushes for surgery and then leaves you flatdoes not check in on you..does not talk with you...has other doctors checking in on you telling you different things to dooffice staff does not response...no one gets back to yousurgery was sloppy...had blood all over my hair and body....burned marks on my chest...even a bump on my head with some blood....and still...not a word from the doctor and the doctor has yet to advise me on anything or even cared to check in on me. he does the surgery then does not care to know how you are doing...moves on to the next one

Dr.Choudri very busy and a brilliant doctor and I am a 51 year old small business owner living with a family of five kids. Dr. Choudri tells me don't worry your tumor in brain is still small by the time it grows and hurry you will be another ten year so don't worry . Giving me hours that's I will Die ?? Amazing character just amazing guy has a brain but no Heart he needs treatment more than me

problem. He makes it a point that you need surgery and what can happen if it does not get fixed. Did not work. Go for PT, acupuncture, trigger point injections and a few other pain injections.He makes sure he does not work with pain docs. Still suffering. Revision surgery. Still in pain...see another doctor. What an algorithm!Nice way to make millions!

I recently had an appt with Dr. Choudhri and I must say I have never felt more at ease and confident with any other physcian than I do with him, I definetly feel I am in great hands. Dr. Choudhri is intelligent, patient, an amazing physician overall. His staff was helpful and very pleasant to be around. His NP answered all my questions and made me feel comfortable. You are definetly in great hands with Dr. Choudhri
