Dr. Tanya Nicole Haag, DO

I saw Dr Haag in the ER at Anne Arundel Hospital. I went to the hospital as I was feeling terribly unwell & was instructed to go per my doctor. I was having severe symptoms of burning of my eyes, nose & mouth and fatigue. I felt very out of sorts & not like myself. I found Dr Haag to be very cold & dismissive. She ran basic panels of blood work but outside of that she didn’t do anything else. She told me everything was clear & that there was nothing else she could do. Turns out, I had a severe case of mono. I was really struggling that day & she lacked any compassion or understanding for my situation. While I understand that they are looking for life threatening issues & maybe diagnosis of mono could have been out of her scope, had she offered concern or just an acknowledgment of how poor I was feeling, it would have been something to ease my distress.

This so called doctor who was working in the ER at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, MD, on May 12, 2017, saw my brother in the ER department after being brought in by ambulance with difficulty breathing and extreme pain in his right side. To make this long story short because you know how long you wait in the ER department(we were there for approximately 5-7 hours) now all this time my brother is in pain and repeatedly telling her that he has ammonia in his side, that he has ammonia, they didn't listen to him. They did there x-rays and after requesting to speak with the doctor after two-three hours after they did the x-rays she came in and said that everything came back fine. His lungs were clear and that there NO AMMONIA in his lungs. That was the last time that we say Dr. Haag that night. However, she request that now they take a scan of my brother's belly so the nurse came in and took a scan of his belly. After many hours of waiting the nurse came in and to discharge… my brother. Her exact words were, your lungs are clear, that he needs to stop smoking, that they saw a few things and that he needed to follow up with a primary care doctor. He was prescribed antibiotics and given pain medication and sent home. The following Sunday were back in the ER with the very same issues. The doctor on call that night diagnosed him with walking ammonia which had gotten worse since Thursday. He was admitted to the hospital and is currently in ICU after being removed from there originally and placed on the second floor because they could not verify he had insurance. Now he is again back in ICU after being on the second floor for two days, kept in bed, no therapy at all to break up the ammonia in his lung, and my family and myself constant phone calls, showing up demanding to speak with his doctors, of which well never got a phone call from and was able to speak with in person only after my being there one afternoon visiting my brother and demanding he come and see and speak with me before he left the building for the day did we first get a clue as to how sick he was. The ammonia had actually increase and was now on his left and his breathing was getting worse. I know the horror stories associated with Calvert Memorial Hospital, but never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be an issue of this magnitude. Very, very, very, disappointed with there care and serve. We have been trying to transfer him to Anne Arundel Hospital but the doctor will not sign papers to have this done.
