Dr. Ted Alan Tobey, MD

Dr. Tobey was extremely arrogant and condescending from the time he walked into the room assuring me of his Ivy League school training and basically that I wasn't to challenge his opinions. He made me feel stupid for coming in for the appointment and dismissed any and all concerns I had. I have a friend who went to see him and had the exact same experience. Very rude, would never reccommend!!

I've been diabetic for 15 years. My first visit will be my last. Tobey has the worst (or least) bedside manner of any doctor I've ever been to. He related to me like I was a slow third grader. He sat at the computer looking at the screen the entire ten minutes. At the end he gave me some pre-printed introductory material on diabetes, things that I learned in my first visit to my regular Endo (who retired) 15 years ago. This was one of the worst doctor visits ever. It started with a 2 hour office wait time. I did not receive a phone call to warn me he was running behind schedule before I showed up, nor did the staff tell me he was already 45 minutes behind when I checked in to my appointment (15 minutes prior to appt time). After an HOUR I asked what was going on and was told, 'oh yeah, sorry'. After TWO HOURS she finally called the other patients behind me to warn them. Ridiculous! The doctor, when he did finally see me, was extremely COLD, DIDN'T LISTEN, and i had to repeat several things to him (which I am still not sure he even got right). He rushed through my appointment, didn't really bother explaining much of anything, and I felt like he totally was blowing me off. But what does he care? I'm in the military and was referred to him by crappy Tricare so he is getting paid regardless if he takes the time to listen or evaluate me-- which i am sure is why he CHOSE to see an 'urgent' patient ahead of… me to get paid twice for the same hour. Where i'm from "urgent" means you show up to a hospital, not to an endocrinologist!! This was also the most creepy exam room ever. I am no doctor but with my college education am having a real hard time understanding why an endocrinologist needs speculums and surgical lubricant in an exam room. Ladies BEWARE. I will not be going back here...

Dr. Tobey has been my doctor for a number of years. He may not have a warm bed side manner but he does listen and I like when he paraphrases back what I'm saying to him. Then I know he is trying to understand my concerns or questions. He does give me answers which he does try to explain and clarify.

Dr. Tobey is very serious about giving his best care. Although he has a serious bedside manner (thank goodness because there are serious health issues for me), and one could think he is uncaring, this could not be further from the truth. He is an amazingly caring doctor. I have gotten to know and observe him over the years and highly recommend him as both a primary physician and endocrinologist. I owe my entire well being to this doctor.
