Dr. Julien received his medical degree at Howard University College of Medicine. He then completed his internship at Christiana Care in Wilmington, DE. He received his Neurosurgical training at NYU Medical Center in New York City and SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY.
After his residency he performed two Neuro-Oncology fellowships. He spent one year at Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center performing research. His second fellowship, being a clinical fellowship, was completed at University of South Florida/H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center under the tutelage of Drs. Steven Brem and Frank Vrionis.
Dr. Julien's spinal surgery interests are in cervical spine disorders (particularly cervical disc disease, spondylosis, stenosis, trauma and myelopathy), spine tumors, and minimally invasive spine procedures …(cervical, thoracic, and lumbar). His MIS spine surgery (minimally-invasive surgery) interests are in thoracolumbar fusions for spondylolisthesis, spondylolysis, trauma, neoplasia and thoracolumbar stenosis requiring fusions. He has developed a robust minimally invasive spinal practice at WVU which will be incorporated into the newly approved Spine Fellowship at WVU. He also performs cervical disc replacement surgery (arthroplasty) and is adept at using the Prestige cervical arthroplasty device by Medtronic and the ProDisc-C device by Synthes.
