Dr. Thad Eugene Abrams, MD

I was a patient of Dr Abrams 2 years ago for a month during the summer of 2016. He was the attending staff doctor for my team of doctors, meaning he was in charge of them. It was the longest month of my life, but it helped that I knew that every day my team of doctors would be rounding and I could get my questions answered and find out if they thought there was any progress. I felt confident that Dr Abrams was making sure all details were attended to. He even went so far as to contact my primary care physician to let her know I had been hospitalized and to get background details on me since I was unable to provide reliable information because of my altered mental status. I also know Dr Abrams from years ago when he was a medical student. Coincidentally, during his last year of medical school he was on the team taking care of my father. I didn’t realize this until going through mementos from years gone by last night. I found a sympathy card from Dr Abrams. He had found out that my… father had died after leaving the University Hospital and been living in a nursing home. I had come to depend on Dr Abrams while Dad was in the hospital to keep me informed on his progress. As a nurse I am extremely aware of how difficult it can be to get in touch with the resident for the team and have many times relied on information provided by the 4th year medical student to keep me current on details pertinent to the case. Thad was extremely helpful in this capacity and made the 2 months Dad was in the hospital bearable. All in all , Dr Abrams has helped me through some of the worst times of my life and I am grateful for his medical expertise and wonderful bedside manner which helped make these times of my life tolerable. I found Dr. Abrams bedside to seem condescending and patronizing. He minimized a past trauma of mine. He seemed to want to fit square pegs in round holes just to fit his research. There were many unethical and unprofessional aspects about my appointment with him. I would not suggest going to him for any type of assistance.
