Dr. Theresa M Tretter, MD

I worked for Dr. Theresa Tretter for 2 weeks in my gap year between undergrad and medical school. She refused to pay me for those two weeks of labor and to this day I have received no compensation for 120 hours of work that I completed for her. This was not in any way an "unpaid internship". We had agreed on a rate of $12/hour when I was hired. After 2 weeks, she told me she would be paying me $9/hour. (I had a bachelor's degree from NYU at the time). I told her that day I was quitting and expected to be paid, but I was never paid. This physician stole from me, and I've been in contact with others to whom she did the exact same thing. She should not be allowed to operate any business in my opinion. I am now a physician and would never expect someone to work for me for free. She was also committing regular insurance fraud, and my 2 weeks of work mostly consisted of dealing with extremely irate patients who were being charged upwards of $3000 for a routine eye exam.

Answered all my questions concisely, although I didn't feel I was rushed. I will soon be having my laser cataract surgery with her. My difficult husband, had both cataracts done by her and cannot stop raving about her, she was the fourth surgeon he went to for a consult and it stopped with her! I am quite sure I will be as happy.

Unfortunately the visit to see Dr. Tretter was not a warm one. She was over 1.5 hours late into the appointment, not even a comment on running behind or otherwise. Her demeanor is rushed, and didn't seem to really listen or care about the reason for the visit. The Dr. Assistant/Nurse on the other hand was warm, professional and friendly.

She did both my cataract surgery and my critical wife's . We left a doctor we were seeing close to 18 year's to be operated on by Dr. T. Our surgeon recommended a lens that was not covered by medicare so my wife just wanted to check it out, as usual, and we felt so comfortable with her that we booked , of course me first then my wife. We both could't be happier and have never seen better. She'e good , low key, honest! My wife has sent numerous friends in the past year she has operated on and to date haven't heard a complaint.
