Dr. Thirumazhisai Sambandam Gunasekaran, MD

This doctor is incompetent, rude and arrogant. Failed to diagnose a serious health problem and decided my child had IBS without listening to what my child was experiencing.

Dr Guna has shown compassion and understanding as we worked through my son's illness and the side effects from it. He is always willing to answer any questions and takes plenty of time with us. He has done everything to help make our son healthy again.

Poor doctor. Not a compassionate bone in his body. He is rude and ignorant to my child and me. Look elsewhere.

Dr Guna has to be the most arrogant doctor I have ever encountered. He is rude and has no time for questions to be answered. Expect your appointment time with him to be less than five minutes. He diagnosed my child with a rare esophagus disease and then did not treat him for it. IBS seems to be his answer when he is not sure of how to treat a symptom. Pass on this doctor.

This doctor should not be treating children. This doctor has terrible bedside manner and no compassion whatsoever for a child or their family going through illness. He is rude and arrogant and does not like to be asked any questions. You are lucky if he spends even five minutes with you. His answer for everything is anxiety or IBS without even listening to what is going on with your sick child. Don't walk away from this doctor, RUN !!

My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Guna's for 12 years now and I have only wonderful things to say about him. My daughter has had a bad case of Crohns and we would (and have) entrust Dr. Guna with her life. He is not only an expert in his field, but, he shows such compassion. He's the kind of doctor who treats the PERSON as well as the PATIENT. What a GREAT doctor!

This is not a doctor that I could ever recommend to treat children after our experience with him at our last office visit. He was 45 minutes late without an explanation. Spent 7 minutes with us to rule out things you could not rule out by basic questions. Did a rectal exam which mortified both myself and my daughter - without explanation. Prescribed a drug that should not be used at this point in her treatment and then told us to get a blood test without any other treatment planning. Awful!

This doctor should not be practicing medicine. I have never in my life felt this way. He was 45 minutes late to seeing our child- spent 7 minutes with her to not only give her an inappropriate rectal exam but not truly spend time understanding her symptoms. A complete disaster. The worse was a prescription to medication that should not have been prescribed! Shame on Advocate

Worst children's Doctor ever !! Not one ounce of compassion for the pediatric patient nor the parents searching to help their child

**DO NOT** go to this doctor!! Like others have said, he is rude, arrogant, impatient and not on time. He got irritated with me when I questioned him. He does not do well with cases that are not "out of the box" or typical. He told me that my special needs kid's reflux was a psychological issue caused by anxiety. That's a bunch of bologna. I have heard that pediatric GI docs say it's a psych issue when they can't figure out what the issue is. We are definitely seeing a different pediatric GI doctor. This time I'm calling before making an appointment to be sure the doctor doesn't refer special needs children to their psych doctors.
