Dr. Thomas Paul Gushurst, MD

I have serious digestive problems accompanied by diarrhea to the point of not wanting to leave the house. I researched online when looking for a Gastroenterologist and determined that Dr. Gusthurst was a very good candidate, based on his credentials. I had to wait four months for the initial consultation (5 minutes). He wanted to start with a colonoscopy (lower G.I.) first, then go from there. I had the colonoscopy and he found one polyp which he removed. I couldn't understand why he wouldn't do a upper and lower G.I. at the same time, nor could my regular Doctor. I was going to be under for one, why not do it all at the same time? After the colonoscopy Dr. Gushurst indicated that I had a slight case of diverticulosis (not diverticulitis) and it was minor, he said to just be careful of what you eat and eat more fiber. Less than a week later I was in the emergency room in serious pain... after a C.T. scan I was diagnosed with diverticulitis... much worse than… diverticulosis. I called Dr. Gushurst office and let them know about the diverticulitis and had the hospital send the results of the C.T. scan and testing to Dr. Gushurst and all he wanted to do is send me a prescription... no more consultation, no follow up appointment after the emergency room visit. I'm still suffering and looking for a Doctor who really cares for his patients and who follows through. I certainly don't recommend Dr. Gushurst to anyone.
