Dr. Thomas Joseph Fox, MD

I saw Dr. Fox for knee pain. I was referred by another surgeon who does not do replacements. He sent a personal message to Dr. Fox, describing my unique situation. I mistakenly assumed I would be treated with caring and compassion. Instead I was told I need to lose 30 pounds (not the issue, I can handle the truth) and to get help to do it. Then he recommended to do all the things I have already done that offer only minimal relief. Through all of this he could not look me in the eye. He then went on to disparage the technique of the physician who had previously given me cortisone injections, and guffawed about the medical group where I received PRP injections. Any professional who will denigrate other professionals in front of a patient is not much of a professional. Clearly Dr. Fox is concerned only with the risks to his outcome statistics vs helping patients. I was looking for a path to feeling better and becoming more functional, not perfection, and not necessarily surgery. I… was asking for help. I was looking for guidance. Instead my concerns were dismissed and I was shamed. What kind of doctor can't look a patient in the eye? He may be a fine surgeon for the perfect patient, but don't waste your co-pay if you are not one.

Dr. Fox replaced both of my hips this year. My results were excellent. A few weeks past the 2nd surgery, I walk without a cane. He respected my wishes regarding certain aspects of the surgery, length of hospital stay and timing of the 2nd surgery. He was available and answered all of my questions patiently and completely. When I asked around, everyone knew him and was pleased with their results. I deeply appreciate his expertise, skill, kindness and respect.

I saw this person when I had an incredibly painful injury to my back and joint which literally woke me up screaming one night and lasted quite a number of weeks. I was (and had been for a couple weeks nearly crying in pain even in public). When he came into the exam room he didn't really seem much interested in my injury. He was obviously repulsed by the fact that I Am overweight (he actually curled the corner of his lip to show his disapproval). This appointment apparently seemed to him to be a good time to shame me about my weight rather than concern himself with my actual injury. I had brought 2 MRI discs and X-rays on discs with me and he wasn't interested in seeing those. He diagnosed me as soon as he saw I was fat. I am sure it was purely coincidence that I needed a spinal fusion within 2 months of that appointment. It probably wouldn't have shown up on the MRIs or X-rays anyway right? Listen to why a patient is seeing you and know that they are in pain, for whatever reason that… it may be!! Try to put your predudice and assumptions aside and treat the patient and their injury.

I was ref to Dr Fox by my pt and thankfully he accepted my Obama care. I was so grateful to have found him, I was suffering intensely with frozen shoulder for several months. The whole visit from start to finish was painless and subsequent communication with his office has been very helpful. Dr Fox was very compassionate and gave terrific care.

I think that everything was excellent about this facility and my provider. Being a first time patient with a new provider means a lot when you don't have to wait long and the provider really takes time out with you to check your medical history and explain her findings. My overall experience was excellent!

Dr. Fox took the time to learn about my specific issue and took a least-invasive approach first. He was available promptly at the scheduled time and his staff seemed very efficient. He gave me an understandable and complete explanation of my issue and the various treatment options--and did not rush through any part of the discussion. Dr. Fox came highly recommended and I also echo a high recommendation.
