Dr. Thomas Nelson Ward, MD

My daughter has been a sufferer of NDPH (new daily persistent headache) for five years. We had one impromptu visit with Dr. Ward as he was covering our prior HS maternity leave at the time. His no nonsense, matter of fact medical advice has left a lasting impression on our journey. We are hopeful his wise views on her eventual relief of 24/7 pain will come to fruition. We are grateful to have crossed paths with Dr. Ward & his deep knowledge. Thank you Dr. Ward! You are unforgettable.

Incredibly thorough and understanding.

Would not recommend Dr Ward due to his poor personality and terrible bedside manner. He asks a question and interrupts during response in a condescending manner. Being in administrative healthcare myself I would never expect this behavior from a provider. I did receive notification that he will be retiring which is probably best for both him and patients.

I've been a patient with Dr. Ward for 15+ years now and I've been an inpatient of his several times when I could not get a migraine to settle down. Dr. Ward has tried many different protocols on me and sometimes I can get frustrated but I truly know that he is the one doctor that can help me through the bumps in the road with my migraines. At times I have felt like a chemistry experiment but he is very logical and precise in his diagnosing and he pays particular attention to detail in what I tell him and what he asks me. If you need a great doc who knows what he's doing in terms of the headache world, my advice is to get in and see him - he's awesome!!

I went to Dr Ward for what I thought were severe but infrequent migraines and regular but severe headaches. With his assistance I was able to discover that my headaches were all migraine-driven, and begin a preventative therapy appropriate for the level of pain I was experiencing. Admittedly, Dr Ward didn't have a great deal of patience for my initial hesitation, I think due to his years of experience and realization that what he was suggesting would work if I would give it time. He was right. I am now down to less than 1 migraine per month- something I never thought possible, and live without daily headaches. Over the counter pain relievers are not a regular part of my daily regimine- in fact- I rarely take them at all! I think that physicians with the level of experience and knowledge that Dr Ward have don't always have the warm and fuzzy manner of our hometown physicians, but I have always found him to be precisely on time with appointments, attentive in full during the… appointments, and he takes complete notes of everything I say- he has repeated them for me at successive appointments. With that and a headache cure, I'm not sure what more I could ask for.

Dr. Ward is an exceptional physician. If one is in need of a migraine specialist in the NH VT area he is the right Dr.

While extremely knowledgeable about migraines, Dr. Ward's bedside manner is less than caring. When my migraine pain didn't respond respond to his treatment plan, he became frustrated and took that frustration out on me. He didn't listen or trust any of my 5 years of migraine experience, which was extremely frustrating and ultimately prevented him from treating me properly. I highly recommend finding a different neurologist and avoiding this one at all costs.
