Recently Dr Prater did cataract surgery on both of my eyes and I received the best care possible. He is one of the best eye surgeons in Springfield. He is extremely knowledgeable and highly skilled. Dr. Smith has been such a wonderful physician. Last visit it was determined that I was in need of cataract surgery. Met with Dr. Prater and was so impressed with him and his support staff. Will be having surgery soon.

I was legally blind. My vision was considered "count fingers" without glasses or contacts. For those who don't know, that means that my vision was so bad, it wasn't even on the 20/20 scale. From the moment I woke up in the morning, to the minute I went to sleep, I wore contacts. I would not be able to function, or even see ten feet in front of me without those contacts. I've been wearing glasses since middle school. I'd been thinking about LASIK eye surgery for many years but never followed through, until last month after talking about it with a coworker. I scheduled a free consultation at Mattax Neu Prater to see if I was a candidate for LASIK and the experience was so good, I scheduled my surgery date for about a month later. The staff was so friendly and thorough, the process was very efficient, and Dr. Prater was extremely confident with my potential. Well, my LASIK surgery was last Friday. During the procedure, Dr. Prater talked me through each step for maximum comfort and… reassurance. I was literally blown away by the technology, the equipment, and the ease of this entire surgery. I was in and out within an hour and a half. The very next day, I woke up able to see. Clearly. This past Friday I had my week after follow up appointment and wow, I just can't even fathom the results. My eyesight was reevaluated and both of my eyes now read at 20/15, which is actually BETTER than 20/20 vision. I literally went from being legally blind to having the best possible vision over the span of one week. I am so happy with this entire process that I just had to share it with you. I can't stop thinking about how amazing this experience has been. I will forever be a patient at Mattax Neu Prater. If you have been thinking about having your eyesight evaluated for LASIK, or you've been waiting for a sign to look in to it, this is that sign!! RUN to get your consult. It is so worth it. 3 years after my procedure, I still can't believe that I can see without glasses or contacts! Just went and had an eye examine just to make sure everything was fine. I WAS severly near sighted and legally blind. Now I have 20/25 vision! Thanks.

I had lasik with Dr Prater in 2000 and vision is still amazing. I have seen him every 2 years since for my eye health. Would recommend him to everyone!!

If you want a surgeon you can feel comfortable with, this is your man. absolutely no pressure and outstanding result!
