Dr. Thomas Sanford, MD

Overall, I have been very happy. I have a mild allergy to pretty much everything. When my allergies get bad I get a buildup of pressure in my ears and cannot hear. It also throws off my equilibrium. Before seeing Dr. Sanford, everyone tried treating my ears while ignoring my allergies. Dr. Sanford is an ear, nose, and throat specialist as well as an allergist. He helped my get my allergies under control and my ears have been far better with the exception of periodic episodes (Every two to three years when allergens are particularly bad). I have been very happy overall. As is common these days, he does try to get me to take a hearing test each time I come in. I feel this is more so that he can bill my insurance more, but I have noticed this is a newer and consistent trend among most of my doctors. I simply decline except for maybe once per year to make sure that my hearing is not getting worse. Due to the horrible other doctors that I saw historically, my ears are very scarred and I do… have some mild hearing loss. I am fortunate to have found DR. Sanford. There are obviously several different treatments that they can do. One thing that I really like is that Dr Sanford really seems to tell me the risks and rewards to each one and then work with me on what course of action I we are going to try. he is very personable and really seems to care. I may visit him once per year or two and he remembers me every time I go in there. The only reason for 4 stars has more to do with SLU than Dr. Sanford. To be honest I do not like visiting him at SLU. Their parking sucks and they have a very corporate feeling with everything going through a central office and booking agent. He also has offices at St. John or SSM whatever they call it now, and I typically go there instead.
