Dr. Thresiamma S Nidhiry has the following 2 specialties
A psychiatrist is a doctor with specific training in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness.
He or she can not only provide the counseling necessary to both diagnose and treat a patient, but can also prescribe medication when needed. In some cases, a psychiatrist will only provide the medication and the counseling will be provided by another healthcare specialist, like a certified counselor or psychologist.
Like other doctors, psychiatrists employ diagnostic tools like CT scans and MRI in order to observe the structure and function of a patient's brain.
Once a diagnosis is made, these specialists may use behavior or cognitive therapy in order to address the patient's condition, or a multitude of other types of therapy, in conjunction with or in place of medication.
A neurologist is a physician who diagnoses and treats disorders of the nervous system which is comprised of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. These doctors do not perform surgery, but refer patients to neurological surgeons when they determine that surgical intervention is necessary.
Some of the conditions that neurologists diagnose and treat are epilepsy, aneurysms, hydrocephalus, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, spinal disc herniation, and spinal disease.
In addition to using diagnostic tests like MRI, CT scans, EEG and EMG, neurologists also employ neurological testing to gauge muscle strength and movement, balance, reflexes, sensation, memory, speech, and other cognitive abilities.

I am completely dissatisfied with her practices. It is almost frightening that she has dealt with me in this way. I visited her as a new patient in need of my maintenance medication that I have been on for twenty years. It was extremely important that she call in my mail in order medication, as this is the only way I can receive the benefits for this on-going med. She knew this, and I even gave her all the info to contact the pharmaceutical company and send in the prescription easily. Not only did she not do this, she failed to tell me that she didn't do it. I phoned the company a few weeks later to order my meds again, and that is how I found out that she never ordered the meds. When I called her to ask her again, she rudely refused and lied that she had tried and couldnt get through which is ridiculous. I am on a city health plan that any doctor in this city must know how to maneuver. She refused to help me over the phone and told me to find another doctor. This is a psychiatrist? On first meeting her, she acts the caring doctor, but it is all a trick to get you to come back in less than one month. She did not want to give me a 90 month supply of meds that my insurance asks for and is standard. She is most likely an insurance scammer. Wanting to charge my insurance company for visits. She did me no help, as now I have to find another doctor and I need my medication stat!. Wouldn't rely on her for your mental health. AND she made took a personal call during my session that lasted about fifteen mins about her landlord issues. She is the landlord. Really?!!!!!!
This doctor lowered the medication I had been taking for years abruptly after talking to me for 2 minutes and unilaterally deciding my dose was too high (but it was ok to prescribe me three other different meds that I have tried in the past and gave me awful side effects). I ended up in the ER a few days later with severe withdrawal symptoms and I am very lucky I didn't get any seizures or died, because you should never discontinue benzodiazepines abruptly, I wonder where she got her degree. I am extremely traumatized and I don't think I will ever trust a doctor again. She has zero bedside manner and I wouldn't recommend her to my worst enemy. Her English is pretty hard to understand so maybe that's the reason why she did what she did to me, maybe something got lost in translation, but as a doctor that is pretty negligent and careless, to say the least. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Dr. Nidhiry almost feel asleep during my visit! It was obvious that she was not paying attention and wrote my prescription 3 different times b/c she forgot that she had already written it! I almost walked out, and should have in retrospect. It was a complete waste of time and I am very confused how this woman is still practicing. DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR! Oh, and I had to wait for 2.5 hours before I actually saw her.
