Dr. Tien Trong Nguyen, MD

We went to see Dr Nguyen's office three times. I say that because not once did we meet Dr. Nguyen. Instead we consulted with a PA. Every visit, we had extremely long waits as well, averaging 60-90 minutes. On our third visit, we gently suggested that the waits were too long and they could improve on that, especially since cancer patients are easily fatigued. We were pretty rudely dismissed and they just walked away instead of hearing our concerns. We decided to get a second opinion at this point, and our new neurosurgeon was shocked at the medical treatment plan that Dr Nguyen's office put forth. We had to start the cancer treatments from scratch, wasting months of time. It has been a real eye opening experience for my family to not trust every doctor! I am usually very tolerant and empathetic of service issues, but this was so egregious that I don't want any other families to have to go through this.

Dec. 2004 Dr. Nguyen removed a large tumor from my brain at UCLA medical center. It is now 15.5 years after that surgery. He saved my life and was very kind, attentive and answered all my questions with kindness and compassion for my situation. He gave me his honest viewpoint of my prognosis and future potentials. He is one of the best surgeons I have ever had to deal with. Thank you Dr. Nguyen.

Dr nguyen cared for my brother who sadly passed from esophageal ca with brain mets. As a family member , his sister, and as a nurse, i could not have asked for better care of my brother than was done by dr nguyen. Very easy to speak with, very available, very skillful and very kind.My brother ,regards his craniotomy , was given his best chance , which was all he asked, thanks to this physician, many thanks still ,

Dr. Nguyen operated on me in Dec. 2004 at the UCLA Medical Center. I had a 6.5cm in diameter hemangiopericytoma sitting behind my right eye resting on my brain stem. I was very close to death according to a local neurosurgen in OXNARD, CA. I was rushed to UCLA by ambulance where Dr. Nguyen removed it two days after Christmas. His kind demeanor, simple answers to questions family members posed and surgical expertise were exceptional. I am still alive because of his talents. I have just had my 70th birthday with hopefully many more to come because of him.

Dr. Tien Nguyen clearly does not care about the well being of his patients. I had a consultation visit with Dr. Nguyen regarding a spinal injury, and I expected him to give an insightful analysis and recommendation based on what he saw on my MRI. Instead, he was on his phone texting right in front of me for more than half the time we were sitting in the room. The visit lasted about 10 minutes, and I couldn’t even tell if he was even paying attention to what I was telling him. His phone rang about 5 times, and every time he picked up his phone to read and respond to texts. He never apologized nor explained any reason for texting endlessly. As I was walking out, I was instantly in search for a different neurosurgeon. Don’t come to this doctor if you’re looking for one who actually cares about their patient.

I've been going to Dr. Nguyen office for the past 2 years. I've always felt comfortable, and easy to talk to Dr. Nguyen. He's personality is dry, but one a while you will get a good smile. He listens to you and listens to your concern/pain. He's staff and assistant are all very professional and very helpful. Dr. Nguyen has a professional work ethics and knows his profession very well. As a surgeon, I'm extremely happy that I had moved forward on getting my lower back surgery done and looking into having Dr. Nguyen fix my previous Neck Fusion issue that was done wrong by a different surgeon. I really like Dr. Nguyen. He’s a serious dude, Straight to the point, a little dry but he’s also a super genius... sooooo.. I read a few reviews complaining about his personality and giving him poor reviews because of it. For those patients- I say, grow up. He’s a neurosurgeon. I saw him for a consult for 2 herniated discs. He explained my options. After thinking them over I opted for surgery. My paid level would become out of control and completely debilitating due to a large herniation at L5 S1. I explained my reasons for wanting surgery and he agreed it was a good choice for me. Surgery went well. My nurse at the hospital said he’s a brilliant surgeon which was nice to hear. I’m day 6 post op and stopped pain meds yesterday. Healing is slow and delicate but so far, so good.

From office to surgery hospital there are very few social words. I like their works, specially of the doctor, his diagnosis, his surgery talent are very effective. i am grateful to them

I had spinal surgery by a doctor in this office before the surgery it was extremely difficult to get information from the office about the procedure, where or even when. Nor did they answer the phone or return any phone calls . There was NO after care provided or ordered. I felt nothing but anxiety and unsafe before and after the surgery.

Very nice doctor & staff. Conservative side towards surgery, which is awesome!! I do not feel the need for a second opinion. I am very comfortable & pleased with Dr. Nguyen & my experience today!!
