Dr. Todd Michael Friend, DO

0n February 23, 2024, I was directed by nursing staff to speak with this doctor about the further authorization of a medical test. He was substituting for my primary care doctor, who was on vacation. Dr. Friend refused to authorize one of the two tests that had been recommended by White Plains Hospital Emergency, the day before. (They had told me that the primary care doctor would need to authorize the two tests.) Dr. Friend read the results of the first test, but refused to authorize the second test. Absolutely no reason was given. He was rude, unsympathetic and insulting in his tone. In fact, upon entering the office and before I could even state my name, he said the following: “Before you say anything, “I’m telling you right now that I will not approve any further testing. You can yell, scream or carry on, and report me if you want to. The only reason I ordered the first test was as a favor to your doctor. I don’t know you. I’ve never seen you before in my life.” He also referred… to me as “pushy” for requesting this hospital recommended test. Further, he indicated that he shouldn’t have to be bothered with this situation “on a Friday afternoon.” It should be noted that during this encounter, I was polite at all times, despite his incredibly rude behavior. When I tried to explain that Medicare had also authorized the test, he said “I don’t care.” This doctor is shockingly unprofessional and should be avoided at all costs.

Best doctor in the world. Goes above and beyond for his patients. Making sure there health care needs are meet. Dr.Friend has been my doctor for over 20 years now. It’s a great thing to have a doctor. Who knows what DRP is. He has never left me down as my doctor. If I had to have surgery. I would want him To do it. Than any surgeon. Keep doing outstanding work doctor friend. I can say I am blessed to have a doctor likes you.

Dr. Friend is a great listener, attentive, and a brilliant diagnostician. He also has a quality many physicians don’t posess; empathy. I would recommend him to anyone who needs a primary care doctor.

I have been dr. Friend's patient for 12 years and have had only positive experience during each of my visits with him. I am overall a healthy individual and usually see dr. Friend for yearly check-ups only, but in those instances when I need an urgent answer to a medical question, he is prompt to reply through the Westmed portal. I like dr Friend's holistic approach to healing, and feel that he devotes ample time during appointments to examine and discuss any of my medical concerns, as well as make referrals to a specialist in a case of need.

DR. FRIEND HAS BEEN MY DOCTOR FOR ALMOST 20 YEARS NOW. I HAVE NEVER HAD A ISSUE WITH HIM. I TRUST HIM MORE THAN ANY SPECIALIST DOCTOR. HE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND CARING. HE CARES ABOUT HIS PATIENTS. NEEDS AND HEALTH. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE I KNOW. BECAUSE I KNOW HE WOULD TAKE EXCELLENT CARE OF MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS. SO YES DR FRIEND IS THE BEST DOCTOR I EVER HAD.

Bed-side manner is sorely lacking. Missed my diagnosis.

Terrible at diagnosing ailments. Hardly listens to the patient as he is too consumed with his computer. Overlooks pertinent patient background and symptoms. I ended up seeing a few specialists on my own despite him advising otherwise. Offered absolutely zero assistance throughout the process. He is no longer our family doctor.

Dr Friend has been my Dr. For years now.. He is great making an appt to see him can be a problem however other than that hes always been friendly & kind

Dr. Friend is awful. He is very dismissive. He stacks his appointments so close together and will literally tell you after 5 minutes "I have another patient" and leaves the room. Beyond his abrupt and rude manner, he does not accurate diagnose medical issues. I shared my experiences with a neighbor who also used to visit Dr. Friend and she had a similar experience. If Dr. Friend is not able to provide a diagnosis, he will label you a "hypochondriac" rather than refer you to a specialist with more specific experience.

When I visited Dr. Todd Friend for headaches, confusion, vision problems among other symptoms, he was dismissive. He spent a total of 10 minutes with me, and then had to rush off to the next patient. This was not a unique occurrence in my experience, as I was a patient of Dr. Friend for 10 years, and he consistently stacked his appointments. A crowded waiting room was to be expected. Eventually after a year of misery, I visited a different doctor and was diagnosed with "Post Concussion Syndrome". I was able to receive treatment at that time. I did not expect Dr. Friend to fix me immediately, nor did I expect him to properly diagnose the complex disorder of PCS, but the signs of a concussion were there. He failed to recognize them, and did not refer me to a specialist outside of West Med who might be able to help. When business and money comes before caring and healing, that doctor is a failure in my opinion.
