Dr. Tueng T Shen, MD

My friend who is blind because of glaucoma has gone through a lot of surgeries. Dr. Shen wanted to do another lazer surgery and told my friend after the surgery that it will most likely won't work.

my daughter, age 25, had a PRK surgery performed by Dr. Shen and I was present in the operating room (properly gowned and scrubbed) and observed the laser surgery on both eyes in Feb 2020. I find the doctor and her entire team know what they are doing. They are very good at it, efficient and very personable to the patient and the family. When my daughter had to reach her a week later on her personal cell phone, the doctor responded right away and offered to see my daughter immediately on a Sunday. With the quarantine during the COVID19, again my daughter needed to ask the doctor a question and again the doctor immediately wrote back with advise. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Tueng T. Shen. Thank YOU!!

Dr. Shen is an astonishing physician, of important educational and research accomplishments, with a master storyteller's ability to explain complex medical situations. Her touch as a corneal surgeon is as precise and gentle as a child's seamstress. And she deals with emergent issues with a calm efficiency. I am so grateful to have Dr. Shen as my eye doctor.

Difficult to get an appointment, but worth the wait, as Dr Shen is very patient and a very good listener, using the latest technology for optimum outcomes.

I was Dr Shen's patient for several years. She was very nice and seemed competent, although very rushed, leaving most of the exam for assistants. I had scheduled an eye surgery with her, and she said she would call me to discuss options. She never called, did not return my calls or emails and the surgery date came and went without any contact! I could not even get an appointment with her in the UW clinic prior to the day of surgery because she was "competely booked." I think her behavior was very unprofessional.

Very thoughtful, informed doctor. Does not push you into surgery but rather carefully considers the best options for you. You may have to wait a bit to see her, but once you do, she spends the times she needs with you and does not make you feel rushed. Highly recommended!

She didn't care about me or what my history was and what I needed. She came in the office and pretty much already had her mind made up. No guts and very poor bedside manner.

Prof Dr Shen is one part of UW Ophthalmology team, is very competent, caring, courteous, and even if one has to wait for this very busy doctor - it is all worth it !!
