Dr. Tushar Mafatlal Shah, MD

After several weeks of my daughter mis-diagnosed with possible asthma through Hendrick ER and Regional ER. Dr Shah took his time and assessed her and determined that her airway was obstructed. Gasping for air he had her airlifted via helicopter to Ft Worth where they found that she had recurrent masses and lesions in her airway. Dr Shah saved my daughters life.

This doctor had a poor bedside manner with the child or the parent. Will not go back to this doctor.

We have taken are sons to Dr Shah since he came to Abilene. We have always been impressed with him and appreciate his show of concern.

I made an appointment for this Dr. to see my son to follow-up on a serious respiratory condition diagnosised by an emergency clinic. The staff member who made the appointment kept getting our information wrong and was brusque when she was corrected. The appointment was for two weeks from the day I called. Two days before the appointment, I called to confirm. I was told I had never made an appointment, and that someone else now had the slot that I had been in, so they couldn't put him in until three days after that. I took in. When we arrived, the staff was unclear as to where we were supposed to go and what needed to be filled out on the paperwork, necessitating several trips to the desk to ask for further instructions. We waited for nearly 40 minutes in the waiting room and then another 20 for the Dr. in the exam room. When the Dr. finally arrived, he was rude. Spent long stretches of time filling things out on his laptop without acknowledging me or my son. Cut me off repeatedly as… I was answering his questions or asking my own. Joked with the observing intern while examining my son, instead of giving me more information about my son's condition. Then more stretches of filling things out without explanation, until I asked him to tell me what was going on with my son, and he gave an irrelevant anecdotal answer. He did not address any of my concerns about my son's condition, and only advised us to keep him on the medication he had been prescribed by the clinic. I didn't have to over two weeks to get that kind of advice - we could have followed up at the original clinic. We will never go back to this Dr.
