DR Patel did a great job removing a cataract from my right eye and replacing it with a Toric lens. so far 20/25 vision.

After learning that my vision fuzziness, glaring headlights and need for more lighting in general was a result of cataracts I began to review my repair options. After some research and discussion with my doctor, I contacted Dr. Patel's office to perform the procedure. In the pre-op examination Dr. Patel discovered that I had gone through RK surgery some years back. He explained this would make the cataract surgery a little more involved however he had performed many of these in the past. I showed up for surgery and went through the prep to get ready for the short surgical process. The surgical nurses were all terrific and made the process quite smooth. My surgery did not take long and I was back in the recovery area about 20 minutes later. Almost immediately I could see much clearer out of the eye that had the surgery. Later that day in my visit with Dr. Patel his review of the process was quite positive My recovery has been very smooth and without incident. In a… follow up to my regular eye doctor a week later. he reviewed the new lens and incision and told me it all looked excellent and my eye exam confirmed it. I am quite pleased with Dr. Patel, his nurses, and the methodology he uses to perform his surgery.

To summarize, I am a diabetic. Nothing was mentioned about if it had impacted my eyes. I have two cataracts and I had to ask you which one was worse. I asked about lenses and was told to read. I was told to do my own research on Dense Nuclear Cataracts. Doctor Patel, each patient is an opportunity. An opportunity to heal and positively change your patient’s life. I was a patient last Thursday and walked out of your practice left unhealed and unfulfilled and without direction. My confidence in you was deeply impacted and the “Hey figure it out yourself” attitude exhibited by you was unnerving.

Very disappointing. I have been a patient of Patel for many years. After a recent visit, I sent Patel a letter expressing my disappointment with him. He never bothered to answer the letter.... Here's an excerpt of the letter. "After a thorough examination by your fantastic staff, you entered the room. Looking at my eyes, you mentioned my cataract was getting worse. I asked which one (yes, I believe I have two cataracts) and you said the left. I wanted to make sure I understood your statement. You proceeded to take a picture of it and sent it to my phone. I asked you about it and you said it was a Dense Nuclear Cataract and I should do a web search to find out more. Needless to say, I was astounded, if fact, I was speechless! My trusted ophthalmologist didn’t/ wouldn’t take a moment to explain a serious condition of my eyesight and expected me to do the research! How bad is it? Should it be treated sooner or later? If let go, will it get worse? Further when I asked you… about cataract surgery, recovery times, lens types, etc., you flippantly responded you weren’t a salesman and pulled out a pamphlet for me to read! What I was looking for was a professional opinion from my anticipated surgeon about how an operation would impact my life! I got a pamphlet to read. I wear distance glasses. Is the prescription still OK? Nothing was mentioned or reviewed. You proceeded to leave the room and told me to schedule a follow-up 3 month appointment. Quite honestly, I was taken aback and admittedly absolutely speechless! I saw more of the back of your head walking out of the examination room than you explaining treatment plans.To summarize, I am a diabetic. Nothing was mentioned about if it had impacted my eyes. I closed the letter stating if he would like to discuss the matter, I am available. Nothing happened! I am not sorry to move on; Dr. Patel is not the person I would entrust my eyesight to! Never.

Dr. Patel is a great opthalmologist, working with you until the time for your cataract surgery. The surgery itself could not go more smoothly, from the prep nurses to Dr. Patel and his staff. I highly recommend Dr. Patel for any needs concerning your vision. He knows what is needed and works with you to determine the best option for your vision issue.

Dr. Patel did a remarkable job removing my cataracts. After wearing glasses for 70 years because of nearsightness and being unable to drive before the surgery, I now have 20/20 vision! He and his entire staff were professional and very kind. The whole experience was amazing and I highly recommend Dr. Patel. Bea Riley

So good to be able to see distance, close again. Would recommend him to anyone that does not see as well as they would like to.

Dr. Patel's billing practices are outrageous. $186 for office visit, $70 testing for glasses and $45 for contact evaluation. My wife has worn glasses and contacts over 40 years. No one is ever in the billing office. I guess testing for glasses includes ensuring you have 2 ears and a nose to keep your Glasses on. My wife also said he was short with her and would not listen to her, he treated her like she was an idiot. In my opinion, I would stay away. My wife will never go back.

Dr Patel was very condescending to me during my visit. He was very quick with me and seemed like he did not believe me about my symptoms. Long story short, he claimed all I needed was eye drops to moisten my eyes and I would see better in "2-3 weeks." My optometrist had told me to get a "mapping of my eyes"(topography) When I mentioned this to Dr Patel he got very angry at me. This week I went to another opthalmologist he he did do a "mapping" of my eyes. This showed I have a disease known as Keratoconus, which includes double vision, halos at night, etc. Good thing I went to a competent doctor that found the problem. Who knows if Dr Patel would have ever found the problem. Maybe the high degree of his condescending attitude comes from his heritage. I am not being racist at all, but I travel the world and have seen this prevalent in the country where his family originates. Still no excuse to be that way. Stay away, do NOT go to this doctor!!
